The National Football Leagues owners voted unanimously to approve the transfer of ownership of the Jaguars from Wayne Weaver to Khan. It was the first item on their agenda Wednesday, and they clapped for him as he re-entered the room, finally part of their exclusive club.

Willing throwing a bomb now be called a Allahu Akbar?
Shahid Khan says that and is rather emphatic about not moving the team. But since he's a Pakistani (by birth) with ties to Illinois (his current residence and where he went to college), what stake does he really have in Jacksonville?
As I mentioned a few posts back, I have friends in Jax and I don't see him as the type that can successfully engage with the people in and around that community. Several of the followup comments on the Times-Union website (before evidently getting scrubbed by the mods) in the wake of the news show, shall we say, lukewarm acceptance of the deal.
Sold to the highest bidder and then approved by the league owners or the highest bidder won and there was no approval by the league owners?
Unfortunately those guys called "owners" tend to distort the whole feel good "highest bidder" process.
Sort of ironic getting a quote from an Irsay about a team that may or may not be moving from its current home.
And if Art Modell were still an NFL owner, I'm sure he would have likewise given the sale his seal of approval. :-)
I’m not going to so quickly cast aspersions on Mr. Khan, newest NFL owner. I’ve done quite a bit of research on him, and it appears Mr. Khan has shown great appreciation for the blessings his decades of diligent hard work in this great country brought him since coming here to attend college at 16.
He and his blonde American wife have donated millions in gratitude to assist their alma mater, Univ. of Illinois, and many other civic causes in their IL community.
And, Debbie Schussel’s criticisms aside, nothing I’ve read confirms anything about his religion, so I don’t know, but folks could just be jumping to conclusions.

Shahid Khan has true rags to riches American story
Apparently, one of the guiding factors in his quick confirmation (he’s been wanting NFL ownership for years and knows many owners), in addition to his documented character, civic generosity, success and work ethic, was the owners’ satisfaction in his ability to financially support the team and league plans going forward.
They’re just not interested in having owners without the
deep pockets their future plans will require.
So, unless and until I learn otherwise markedly departing from the above, he seems to be quite acceptable.
That's what I've found so far (and I've been looking). Aside from Debbie Schussels article in which she states in no uncertain terms that Khan is a Muslim, I've found nothing about definitive concerning his religion. Sure there are plenty of bloggers who claim that he's an Islamist but his published biographies (at Pro Football Weekly and other sites I've checked) are silent on that matter.
With the caveat that I'm engaging in speculation, I would surmise that if he were a Christian, Khan would make an effort to ensure that was well know. Bobby Jindal certainly lets us know that he's a Christian.
The buyer wrote a check for 760 million.
I’m thinking there were not a whole lot of American consumers in the NFL checkout line willing to write a check for 770 million for the team.
His political contributions show that he gives mostly to GOP candidates. Be sure to look for Shahid Khan of Champaign since there are others elsewhere with that name. A red flag is that his most recent contribution is $2,500 in June 2011 to Mitt Romney. So it seems that the NFL's newest owner may be a Republican but is certainly not a principled Conservative.
“I’m thinking there were not a whole lot of American consumers in the NFL line willing to write a check for 770 million for the team.”
As I remember a few years ago Rush Limbaugh was prepared to write a big check to be an investor in a team. He was rejected.
The foolish preoccupation with contract bonuses and the like would be replaced by simple rewards. If you win, you get to keep the goat and share it with the homies on your team, who for supporting your efforts each get a new turban. With all the Mohammeds playing in the league, that should be a big hit.
Those senseless lags in play for illegal procedure and offsides would give way to more straightforward rules like "not intentionally whipping another player." (We could always make exceptions in cases like Michael Vick, of course.)
Here ya go, a mount for the new rookie .....
The concern with the Limbaugh purchase was that some players, believing that some of Rush’s statements were biased against blacks in the NFL, would refuse to play for the Rams.
I guess we can expect a offensive with more long bombs?
The “Jiha-guars”?
*BOOOM*
"I'm pretty sure that's a personal foul, Bob..."
Wow, I get to have a new least favorite team now.
Actually Mr.Khan was buying the Rams, and Rush was going to be a minority partner with Khan
Doesn’t matter to me. I stopped watching the NFL when the percentage of players with criminal records hit the same number as the average IQ of those players. I think Vince Lombardi was still coaching then.
