We have a close family member who decided a few years ago that she was gay. I say 'decided' because up until then, she had always dated men and was actually about to get married. It came as a huge shock to everyone and has taken a while to get used to. She has had the same partner since she announced her lifestyle change. It has been difficult for me and other family members to accept and get used to their living arrangements, lifestyle, etc, especially on holidays. But as time has gone on, I have accepted this is how she is going to live and there is nothing I can do about it. But I don't like it.
I have always been polite and cordial because I see no sense in being rude or hostile. And if I were hateful, it would just give conservatives/Christians a bad name IMO, and would add fuel to their fire. That being said....she has announced that she and her partner are having a baby. The partner is pregnant. This has really thrown us for a loop, as we never expected this to happen.
It so happens that I have a small child and am expecting again, so it really makes me think. I am completely against their doing this. But I have no idea how to publicly act or respond to this situation - especially at upcoming family holiday events. I don't feel like happily telling them 'congratulations!' or talking about baby things. I think about how this poor kid is going to feel about his/her parent situation, or how I'm going to explain to my children why this baby 'has two moms' and on and on.
If anyone has a gay family member or has been in a similar situation, I'd love to hear how you handle it. Thank you -
As far as I know I don't know any stupid freepers. As I see it:
And there are other categories as well.
The cost is too high and the time too short. Nice doesn't always work. I've had it and I'm going to start tearing new assholes for some freepers. That's a figure of speech in case those who fall into category 3 above can't figure it out.

I had the same problem with my in-laws. When homosexual marriage became legal here, they stopped by to gloat, with my sister in law yelling at me so aggressively that she sprayed my face with saliva.
Where’s the clapping emoticon when I need it? Or that clapping gif from Citizen Kane?
At this point it’s one side or the other, the dark side or the side of light, take your pick, no hanging out in the meridian any more. No one who regularly reads on FR can claim ignorance any more.
We must be related. I’ve had shouting, fingers jabbed repeatedly into my face, screaming 2 inches away, and much much more that is too painful to relate.
The trash needs to be taken out. No prisoners. Just ass kicking.
At this point “unknowingly” is not an option AFAIAC.
Agree.
Ditto.
I am so with you.
Did you see the last few article I and wagglebee pinged out, just this afternoon?

I read the first one earlier but not the last two... been (and still) busy. Thanks, I’ll take a look at the other two articles.
Yes, I agree children should be protected from these things.
But the US and europe is exporting such things to Asian TV and film and MTV type videos even on such “family friendly” places like Glee. ( I live in the Philipines).
What is worse is that they combine programs aimed at teens with with a materialistic/greedy lifestyle which implies being rich is good, living “green” is good, but ignores the traditional values of thrift and hard work and caring for our neighbor and the poor.
Sigh.
I have many friends either in or from the PI and it used to be quite different, a generation or so ago.
Our kids are very well adjusted, excel in sports and musical instruments. I've also taught them how to defend themselves.
God has really blessed us with some great kids who impress everyone they meet.
So while it isn't easy and even family makes it more difficult at times, it's possible to raise kids right. It's definitely worth it!
Just the titles are enough... So instead of exporting freedom, the US is exporting forced sodomy appreciation.
Puke.
We have a marxist coup on our hands.
Thanks!!
Well done!! One thing the world desperately needs is well raised and educated children. It’s a wonderful service to raise children the way you and your wife are doing.
I have 2 very close family members that are homosexual..I struggled with how to handle this..
One is female and now in a 20 year relationship ..I love this girl, I know she was sexually abused as a kid..
The other a 21 year old young man
I have determined to love them as I do all of the other sinners in my family .. They know i am a Christian and so they never speak of their lifestyle in my presence.. If they do i will tell them what God says about homosexuality ..but that he provided a propitiation for those that repent and come to him .
He tries to get even by asking me for help with his Latin work... he knows I don't know Latin so when he tries this, I just knock him out of his chair and he loves it but it drives the wife crazy... "He's in school" she says, and I reply "well, there's a hard knock for him."
I'll start teaching both our kids Greek soon. Was supposed to start this year but the new job requires a lot of my time right now.
He's taking an on-line Great Books course where they read The Illiad, The Odyssey, Aristotle, Plato and more. Actually, our 11-year-old takes it with him. Both kids are doing very well in class. We couldn't be more proud.
Brings a huge smile to my face and actually a tear or two to my eyes. At this point, raising children with a moral compass, faith in God (of course it’s still voluntary but with a good foundation much better chance of fruits ripening), a good solid knowledge of history and even Greek and Latin - and the ability to think rationally - it one of the very best services to God and humanity anyone can do.
