He tries to get even by asking me for help with his Latin work... he knows I don't know Latin so when he tries this, I just knock him out of his chair and he loves it but it drives the wife crazy... "He's in school" she says, and I reply "well, there's a hard knock for him."
I'll start teaching both our kids Greek soon. Was supposed to start this year but the new job requires a lot of my time right now.
He's taking an on-line Great Books course where they read The Illiad, The Odyssey, Aristotle, Plato and more. Actually, our 11-year-old takes it with him. Both kids are doing very well in class. We couldn't be more proud.
Brings a huge smile to my face and actually a tear or two to my eyes. At this point, raising children with a moral compass, faith in God (of course it’s still voluntary but with a good foundation much better chance of fruits ripening), a good solid knowledge of history and even Greek and Latin - and the ability to think rationally - it one of the very best services to God and humanity anyone can do.
