MONROE, Ore. -- The thing to do if a squirrel runs up your leg is probably not to aim a .22-caliber rifle at it.
A Benton County, Ore., sheriff's officer says a 36-year-old Monroe man told deputies he was startled by a squirrel that ran up his left leg so he fired at it but hit his foot instead.

To be a Darwin Award candidate, one must either kill oneself or take oneself out of the gene pool. Had the squirrel been on his belt or crotch, there would have been a good chance of chlorinating the gene pool.
