Yes, absolutely. I still get out that DVD to watch every now and then.
AS far as I am concerned Hanks’ high water mark was in Batchelor party.
Oh yeah, Jennifer Aniston. She’s such a bore I didn’t even think of her lol.
Best actors list:
Gary Oldman: half the time you don’t know it’s him until the credits come up — what more could you ask of an actor? He was miscast in Batman — no room in the character to do anything.
Robert Downey Jr.: his portrayal of an Australian actor dude portraying a black soldier dude pretending to be an Asian peasant farmer dude in Tropic Thunder is brilliant.
Spencer Tracy is not just over rated, he is the worst actor ever.
Every movie he’s playing Kevin Costner in whatever role he’s in. That’s why.
>>Its amazing that a few folks come on the thread and trash Steep. She is universally acclaimed within the industry as the greatest American actress of the last two decades. She has millions of fans throughout the year. <<
That is because many like ACTING. They confuse “over the top” with “great.” It is like singers who spend their whole careers vamping up every song (pretty much every popular singer now) — people think ramping up notes or a passage is “great singing” whereas it is really just covering the inability to sing consistently.
Her new boyfriend is kind of hot and the most interesting thing about her. LOL
Tracy was one of the most versatile actors to come out of Hollywood. His drama is pretty good, and his comedic timing was spot on.
You’re both crazy. Costner’s roll in Tin Cup should have won him the best actors award, along with Cheech as his quirky side kick for supporting actor.
I’m not joking. Compared to some of the other garbage that has won the Oscars in recent years.
She’s a good actress,especially in ‘Silkwood’.
IMO,Karen Silkwood’s death was no accident.
Oh I am so with you on Gary Oldman. He is amazing.
Someone upthread mentioned Steve Buscemi. He’s fantastic on Boardwalk Empire and actually the whole cast is really great. Michael Shannon and Jack Huston are also stand out performers. Hopefully this launches them to bigger and better things.
His Nixon impersonations were funny.
>>Are you saying that everyone else is wrong because the like over the top and the two or three here who commented on Streep are the real knowlegable people regarding acting?<<
Are you saying that “great” = “most popular?” If so, then this guy was wrong on every single point and in fact, he should just defer to the tyranny of the majority.
If you like to be ACTED at, that is your prerogative.
I am going to disagree with Ben Shapiro on a few on his list. I do agree that George Clooney, Tom Hanks, and Leo DiCapiro should be on the list.
That said about George and Tom, they were good in a few films. George Clooney was great in Michael Clayton. Clooney’s latest film The Descendants is good, but Clooney is just Clooney. Hanks was great in Big and Forrest Gump.
Julia Roberts, Jennifer Anniston, and Will Farrell should have been listed.
Jack Nicholson was great in ‘A Few Good Men’, ‘As Good As It Gets”, “Anger Management”, “Hoffa”, and many others. This guy must be on the outs with Nicholson for some reason, but Nicholson is a one-of-a kind actor.
COOL! Never seen that one before ... thanks!
How was Keanu Reeves missed?
I guess I’m going to have to watch that Barfly movie, hubby says she’s great in that too. I read that play (I think it’s a play it was a long time ago) and while Mickey Rourke is a clear choice Dunaway has always eluded me.
I’ve never seen Bonnie & Clyde either, I was too young to see it when it first came out and was never that intrigued by it.
