Here’s an update.

Had a follow-up meeting with my urologist on Monday in Sacramento and he laid out the future plans.

Saw the oncologist this morning and she ordered up a bunch of tests and will start chemo after the tests are completed.
Once the chemo is completed I’ll return to So Sacramento for surgery to remove my bladder and prostate, likely in February.

Nice poem. I just raked a big pile of leaves for the twin boys I am a nanny for to jump into today. They loved it!

So here’s what happened!
I was on my way to Pre-School (where I teach) and on the radio, they said Herman Cain would be in Miami in the Morning, Coral Springs at 1:00PM, and West palm beach later in the day. I usually have lunch after Pre-School gets out at 11:30. but I eschewed lunch to get to Coral Springs By 1:00. I had a job at 2:30 but I knew I could get there in 10 minutes, so I thought I could at least hear Herman’s speech before I blasted out of there.

When I got top Wings Plus, a large crown had already formed, with a fabulous R&B Band of older Black Men performing some of my favorite Motown and Soul Hits. Then Florida’s own James Brown Tribute Guy came out and did some excellent dance moves, and got the crowd dancing and chanting “Get Up, Save our nation” and things like that. I knew the Lead Singer from previous gigs, and NEVER expected to see him at a Cain Rally! LOL. I also ran into the grandfather of one of my students. He was so enthusiastic about Herman! (I am sure he has scraped off his obama bumper sticker by now! LOL)

Due to Miami’s ridiculous traffic , Herman was an hour late. By this time I was stuck up against a police barricade with hundreds of people behind me, and I was despairing of ever getting through the crush of the crowd to get to my car. At quarter past two, I KNEW it was time to go. All I had to say was “Excuse me” and the crowd parted for me like I was Moses at the Red Sea. I ran into my favorite pastor, Rev. O’Neil Dozier, and I said “Hi Rev. Dozier...so You’re a Cain Fan?” To which he answered , “OF COURSE! WHO ELSE???”

On the way to my car, I saw the trumpeter from the band and recognized him as one of the original Funk Brothers of Motown. I stopped to chat with him, and it turns out that the drummer and keyboard player were also part of the original musicians that backed up the Supremes, the Four Tops, etc. I asked them about the Great Bass Player James Jameson (My idol). Oh yes, he remembered James dearly. I felt as though I was in the presence of greatness. There was a Coral Springs Police Officer standing near my car. I cheerfully thanked him for making this a beautiful, peaceful event, and he smiled.

The crowd was a microcosm of America, Blacks, Whites, Young, Old, Men and Women, Christians and Jews. I saw Joe Kaufman of Americans Against Hate, a Rabbi in a Kippa, Veterans in wheelchairs, and teenagers.

And of course, one Irish-Indian Bass Playin’ Freeper.

I got to my job on time, so even though I didn’t get to hear Herman’s Speech, I was Thoroughly delighted and impressed with the diversity and fine quality of the folks at the rally.

I could have actually stayed for the speech, if i had known that my student (an 8 year old boy) had fallen in the school yard and banged up his elbow.

A phone call WOULD have been nice! Oh Well.
