He has a lovely voice and a good range between the highs and lows. I have an mp3 of Herman singing "Precious Lord" by the Rev Thomas Dorsey. It is one of my all-time favorite Gospel Songs.
I remember an email that circulated about ten years ago, attributing "Precious Lord" to Tommy Dorsey the band leader. I remember answering everybody on the address list that it was not the band leader at all that wrote the song at all, but an old Black Baptist preacher.

Wow...this is just TOO weird!
I was listening to an old Jaco Pastorious Bass Improvisation on YouTube...and it included a quote from the Carol Burnett Show song “I’m so glad we had this time together”.
For those unfamiliar with Jaco, he was the incredible and eccentric bass player with “Weather Report”.
needless to say, the quote was “unexpected”! LOL!
