Has anyone tried the "ThrowBack" beverages?

When my wife and I were shopping for groceries Saturday we picked up 2 cases of "ThrowBack" sodas(Mountain Dew, Pepsi).

Man, I used to love TAB when I was in my teens.

The made with sugar Mt. Dew actually tastes like it did when I was a kid and is totally different from the corn syrup version. Ever wonder why single bottles of Coca-Cola are often sold in the Hispanic food sections of grocery stores? These are Mexican bottled Cokes which are still made with sugar and are preferred by many Hispanic Coke drinkers over the corn syrup swill that passes for Coke in the US.

You can find Throwback Pepsi in my area. I haven’t seen any of the other varieties yet. I have bought several packs already. Sugar tastes much better as others have said. We all know this from the Mexican Coke in bottles that we sometimes pick up. I wish the soda companies would get a clue and make the sugar formulas more widely-available. Already in my area, the supply of Throwback Pepsi is dwindling.

Yes! The Pepsi was a LOT sweeter to me, probably due to real sugar being used instead of fructose corn syrup.

When I see the Pepsi Throwback 12 packs, I buy them all. Empty the shelves. I don’t even drink soda that much, and I prefer Coke over Pepsi for better cola taste. But when any soda with real sugar is available, I jump on it.

The company that declares “no more HFCS in our soft drinks” will score a coup in the business world. Most people wouldn’t even mind paying a little more for the superior product. I suspect the company that pulls off this coup will be Pepsi, since they already have it in the Throwback products.

There is no comparison. Sugar is better, and it is the trend now for people to avoid products that contain it. I was thrilled to see that Ocean Spray has stopped using HFCS in the cranberry juice, and they proudly display that fact on the front label. (But beware: the store brands still use the corn crap.)

HFCS is just nasty. It tastes like diet soda to me, complete with aftertaste and chemical aroma.

I eat and drink everything.

At my age, the more preservatives in them the better.

I’ve started buying products in the “International” aisle more and more often. Fewer ingredients — no chemical names. Better taste. I’m tired of being sold food products that seem to come out of a chemistry lab.
