Sperm bank turns down redheads

The world's largest sperm bank has started turning down redheaded donors because there is too little demand for their sperm.

Ole Schou, Cryos's director, said that there had been a surge in donations in recent years, allowing the facility to become much more picky about its donors.

"There are too many redheads in relation to demand," he told told Danish newspaper Ekstrabladet. "I do not think you chose a redhead, unless the partner - for example, the sterile male - has red hair, or because the lone woman has a preference for redheads. And that's perhaps not so many, especially in the latter case."

Mr Schou said the only reliable demand for sperm from redheaded donors from Ireland, where he said it sold “like hot cakes”.

Cryos’s stores have now reached their peak capacity of 70 litres of semen, and Mr Schou has a waiting list of 600 donors.

Yep, and he doesn't play basketball (never seen him dribble) and doesn't like baseball either. His Jr. High school gym teacher and now his Freshman high school gym teachers have both asked him to play basketball. He's told them in no uncertain terms "NO." His high school basketball coach called here last week and I told him the same thing "if he doesn't want to play, he doesn't have to play."

So much for a college scholarship, guess I'm paying his way...

My great grandfather was from Norway. He told me a story out of history, as he put it. Back in the 1300s, the rulers of Russia, all emigre Norwegians, where having problems with the Mongols. The Mongols would come in, rape and pillage and demand a big bribe to go away. After tiring of this the Russian rulers put out a call for Berserkiers, all of whom had red hair and exceeded six feet with many over seven feet. Please keep in mind that the average height at that time was not much more than five feet. Nearly all the known Berserkiers heeded the call and went to Moscow. When the Mongols showed up ( Heard this story twice with 12K and 40K Mongols?) strong, the Berserkiers went out to battle in their customary way, naked with their weapons. Three thousand of them on foot, the Mongols on horse back. When the battle was over less than one hundred Mongols returned East never to return to Russia. No Berserkiers survived and that is why you see many more red headed women then men. The berserkiers where known for their terrible temper in battle and are the origin of the term berserk.

I have seen a few hints in histories that tend to validate the above tale, but only hints?

The origin is from the TV show Gilligan’s Island. It’s in reference to the redhead movie star “Ginger”.

I can recall reading about the character "Ginger" Hebblethwaite, first appearance in Biggles and the Black Peril (1934), in the books by W E Johns and "Ginger" in Just William (1922) by Richmal Crompton, even before Gilligan was Maynard G Krebs.

My doctor, a well known and respected Neurosurgeon who's surgically repaired the lower backs of several high-profile athletes such as Ozzie Guillen of the White Sox, (when he was playing) a few Chicago Bulls players and more sure didn't think so .... I can still hear his yelling ringing in my ears some 8 years later now.

I've read similar tidbits on the web, I've also read that we redhead's are proof that homosapiens and neanderthal's "got together" and comingled the species.

As I tell my charming and delightful wife of 25 years (as of last week...) I have an excuse for my caveman like, knuckle-dragging behavior.

as a kid my dad was a true redhead, turned brown as he aged but when he went grey, his hair came in pink. Thats when he started to shave his head...said his dad also had pink hair...Red pigment and grey hair can = pink...
