(Vanity) So I got an email from MorOns.org
email | 9-5-2011 | The idiots at MoveOn

Posted on 09/06/2011 7:03:33 AM PDT by JRios1968

It reads:

Dear MoveOn member,

I have some tremendously upsetting news: Late Friday, President Obama overruled EPA science and blocked crucial new protections against smog pollution that have been years in the making.

The decision came after a major campaign by corporate polluters and Republicans to kill the rules. The result, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, is likely to be tens of thousands of premature deaths, as well as increased illness among seniors, kids with asthma, and people who have lung problems.

Worse, in announcing his decision, President Obama repeated discredited tea party talking points about environmental rules costing jobs. The reality is that these standards were the best thing for the economy and the environment. And clean air protections are the perfect issue to remind Americans that enforcing rules to protect citizens' health and safety is one of the most important roles for our government.

With congressional Republicans planning a series of votes starting this week to block other health and environmental standards, we need to set the record straight, right away.

Will you write a letter to the editor of your local paper reminding folks that environmental protections like these smog rules protect our health AND strengthen our economy?

Our website will give you some tips and make it easy for you to submit the letter to a newspaper near you. And your letter will help persuade folks in your community that we shouldn't be tearing our government down—we should be making it work.

President Obama tried to bury this news by announcing it hours before Labor Day weekend. But on Labor Day we need him standing up for the kinds of health and safety protections that working folks and labor unions have spent decades fighting for, not repeating Republican talking points about how we don't need them.

What's more, Nobel-Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman pointed out that this anti-smog rule would actually create clean energy jobs: "It would have forced firms to spend on upgrading or replacing equipment, helping to boost demand. Yes, it would have cost money—but that's the point!"

Help push back against tea party Republicans' message that we can't afford to protect our health and safety.

Write a letter to the editor today.

Thank you.

–Adam, Robin, Marika, Peter, and the rest of the team

Obama did not sign the legislation because AMERICA is BROKE and we do not have the money to pay for this. We are not passing anymore debt on to our grand children!

The Land Grab is DEFINITELY Agenda 21 driven. I've met and worked with these people for years. Most of them are committed Marxists. Those who aren't are gullibe and being led by nice sounding ideas that are being sold as wonderful efforts towards clean water and air. They are careful to hide the agenda of land ownership being a social injustice. But, it's in their charter docs.

thanks for sharing that.

Actually, people moving back into city centers wouldn’t be all that bad a thing, think of how vital and lively NYC is, no empty abadoned city center there. And think how cities appeared in the old photographs; lively and busy downtowns, lots of shops , commercial activities, small businesses etc.

But everyone was driven out by the welfare babies and the gangs, and rotten schools. No young family is going to live downtown and try to raise kids under those circumstances!

If Agenda 21 really wanted people to move back into downtowns you’d think the first things they would call for is police crackdown on the gangs, throw out the corrupt teacher’s unions, straighten out the schools and cut off welfare.

they’ll *never* get people to move back into downtowns, no matteer how many civic centers and loft apartments and cute parks they put in when you can get flash-mobbed by feral youths.

overruled EPA science.

None of these loons will admit that the technology to achieve the stated EPA goal DOES NOT EXIST YET. Basically this new EPA regulation was decreeing that someone has to invent something. Some "science."

and so what happened with the last set of rules and regulations EPA enforced in order to save kids from asthma and elderly from choking to death on smog etc. etc.? Weren’t those supposed to clean everything up? They didn’t? Why not?

“Yes, it would have cost money—but that’s the point!”

He’s right. Economics has always been about spending money to, um, for the sake of spending money. Wait, is that right?

This is a perfect opportunity for Freeper action. I follow the local liberal rag in my area online (LOHUD.com) and I am sure this will show up in the letters section. First using humor make fun of their talking points

Talking Points
• Refusing to update the smog standards will likey cost tens of thousands of lives. Up to 12,000 people per year could die from increases in asthma and other lung and respiratory disease. Infants and children are particularly vulnerable to pollution-related asthma.1

Since these numbers come from the EPA when did they take over responsibility from the AMA (American Medical Association) or the CDC (Center for Disease Control)?

• Protecting our environment is good for the economy. Updated standards would reduce health care costs and compel companies to invest in technology and infrastructure to reduce pollution. That, in turn, would create new jobs right here in the United States.2

So these companies should invest in pollution controls like cap and trade rather than making better products? Wasn’t this from the same Paul Krugman that wanted an alien invasion to fix our economy?

• The President shouldn’t be repeating right-wing falsehoods. By caving to big polluters and parroting false right-wing soundbites about the high cost of environmental protection, President Obama is only encouraging Republicans to push for rolling back even more standards and laws.
• President Obama is leaving George W. Bush’s smog standards in place—standards so low that Obama’s own EPA chief said they were probably illegal. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said that Bush’s standards likely violated the Clean Air Act and needed to be revised.3
• The president announced his decision on the Friday before Labor Day to avoid attention. This is too important to try to sweep under the rug. The president needs to be held accountable for blocking updated smog standards.

These last three we can all agree Obama has been quite a disappointment to those that were naive enough to vote for him and the rest of us that unfortunately have to live with the consequences.

Then put icing on the cake by posting the moveon.org letter writing link. (http://pol.moveon.org/lte/lte_t.html?zip=53130&lte_campaign_id=130&id=30628-19435695-qja3vXx&t=1)
This will embarrass the letter writer and the paper for falling for a letter writing campaign. If enough freepers respond to these letters written by “ordinary” people it will make their campaign like everything else liberals do an utter failure.
