The Mammoth Site in Hot Springs recently yielded the remains of a 60th mammoth, the giant, extinct creatures that once roamed the continent.
[just a teaser--AP story]

The scientists are already in process of clonging mammoths. It was reported here in a post some time ago. Soon herds of them will be roaming the US again.
The scary part will come when it is discovered that there IS “race memory” that is carried down through generations by DNA.
Then verily Arksansas will tremble as herds of mammoths returen to the legendary Mammoth Graveyard and find the bones of their ancestros have been disturbed.
Oh Woe! The paleontologists have doomed us to a terribel vengeance.
It’ll be interesting to see the result, but of course, there are problems with mammoth DNA, and the other half of the critter will be from a living elephant.
Does anyone know the date of this mass death site? If it is around 12 to 13 thousand years ago, then SC should post the Firestone book again.
The link on post #1 makes it sound like this was a natural trap and the mammoths died over a long period of time, not suddenly at once.
Ah, but once they get DNA cells, will stem cell regeneration be far behind?
We’re doomed I tell you, doomed!
26-25,000 years ago.
They did find at least one ancestor of RINO McCain: a cave bear.
Sigh. I know most FReepers don’t actually read articles before posting; why would I even begin to think anyone would look at the KEYWORDS?
The article begins with "HOT SPRINGS, S.D. The number of mammoths found in Hot Springs has reached 60...". I'm pretty sure that "S.D." thingie was supposed to be a clue.
Oooh, good thinkin’....
Unfortunately, like most a lot of FReepers now, my eyes aren't as young as my body thinks it is.
Sometimes my STOO-PID™ medication makes my eyes blur early in the day, sometimes not until early evening. And when that happens seeing tiny fonts are near impossible. But eventually the eyes will blur each day.
