Went to my doctor for the first time in awhile and got some bad news. My A1C blood sugar was almost 12 and my blood pressure averaged about 190/110. They wanted to admit me right then and there, but instead gave me a shopping bag full of medications. Since my wife had her stroke I haven't really been taking care of myself and now it's come to a head. If I don't do a complete 180 I'll be dead before the year is out. I have committed to mall walking (exercising) seven days a week for 30 minutes a day and cutting my carbs and sugars drastically. Please pray for me or think of me as I try to save my own life. Thanks!
Sorry to hear about bad news, but I believe you can do it. My prayers are with you.
What BP meds did they give you?
About five years back my blood sugar was almost 600 and my eyesite looked like I was looking through a waterfall. Went to the hospital and was given insulin and an IV. My A1C was almost 12. I was put on all kinds of meds. I immediately stopped all sugar and in six weeks could see better than I’ve seen in my life. I no longer require glasses except for reading.
When I had a heart attack in 2008 my cardiologist took me off all diabetic meds. I keep it under control with exercise and diet and eat pretty much what I want to eat. It can be turned around.
May the Lord give you healing strength. My father has been taking care of my mother, who has Alzheimer’s - he has the same problems as you do with his blood sugar and blood pressure, among other things. The stress and anxiety is unbearable, unless you take it to the Lord and put it in his hands.
I can totally sympathize with your situation. I help my father, and it has taken a toll on my health as well. It’s so hard to do, but we need to get ourselves in good condition to be able to take care of our loved ones that cannot take care of themselves any longer.
Prayers for you and your wife. Stay strong.
Welcome to the club; not quite as big as the Second Division, but pretty numerous just the same.
It’s a bit of a shock at first, but do what the doctor says and you’ll be fine.
Absolutely. Our prayers are with you and your wife. May God’s blessings be with you, and strengthen you. Take heart. You can do it. If I can survive two heart attacks, a triple by-pass and two strokes, you can survive. Give yourself to your Savior. He will answer.
Love you both.
Jim
Hydrochlorothiazide, 25mg.
Prayers your way, sir. May God carry you both through these difficult times.
The moral of the story is slow and steady but committed to the rehab finishes the race.
Good luck, God bless you and your wife. Do what you can and then do a little more next time and understand that the project is long term with bumps in the road.
Go Army!
Prayers ups!
Don’t worry. Heaven is beyond our mortal comprehensional abilities to conceptualize wonderful! This dust is temporary. G_D’s Love is Eternal! Peace be with US.
Pray as you walk and offer up your suffering for all the intentions in your heart. Many blessings and graces will come about as you do this.
start walking slowly and ramp up slowly.
also, do a little stretching before you go.
you might want to cross train (swimming, biking, canoeing)
so that you don’t get overuse injuries.
good luck. you can do it.
my mom told me today that a neighbor lost 20 lbs. just by walking
and watching what she ate.
My prayers are with you, bank on it, and get well soon.
My mother died last month from a sudden diabetic coma.
Please do all that you can and start right away on it.
Take care FRiend.
Hang in there. You can make the changes you need to make to be healthier.
My BP wasn’t quite as high and I was on meds. My BP is now very well controlled and I’m off the BP meds. One thing I’ve added is yoga at least once a week. It has helped me manage my stress.
If you can afford it, you might think about trying Nutrisystem. I’ve gotten rid of 30 pounds with it. They have a menu program for diabetics so that might help you get started. You seem like you have a lot of things to worry about right now. So, just picking out meals might help you not have so much to worry about. It has been a godsend for me right now. Of course, ultimately, you have to learn to plan meals that help you manage your weight as well as your blood sugar levels.
Just a couple of thoughts.
You know you have a lot of support right here. We are all pulling for you.
Good luck!
Please take care of yourself. You will be in my prayers.
My goodness, man—you have years and years and years to go! Get a stationary bike, start low friction and go slow; put it in front of a TV or near a radio. If you must, rig something up so you can work a laptop simultaneously (put the bike near a countertop if that’s all you can manage). Keep the carbs down; take all your pills—they work! Limit the mall-walking and walk in the sun with a hat and sunscreen & get your Vit D naturally. You’re in my prayers.
Try swimming if you can.
After my strokes,I felt I only survived because of the big 3
1)God
2)my dog
3)swimming
May God bless you and your wife.
