In perhaps the biggest news of the DC Comics re-launch, a brand new look for Superman has been revealed. When DC Comics promised to unveil 52 new number one issues, the biggest controversy was over whether this meant even Action Comics would be starting over. As suspected, it is now official that after seventy-three years, there will be a new Action Comics #1. There will also be a brand new costume for the Man of Steel.
DC Comics has officially announced four new #1 issues involving the Superman family of titles. The longest-running monthly comic book of all time will restart in September 2011 with Action Comics #1. The new Action Comics will be written by Grant Morrison with artwork by Rags Morales. According to DC Comics, Action Comics #1 will present a Superman who is defending a world that doesnt trust their first superhero. The cover image of Action Comics #1 shows Superman in a t-shirt with the familiar S emblem, a red cape, jeans, and boots.

And a new slogan? Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than the SEIU. Workers of the world, unite.

Is this the Superman who renounced his American citizenship? Why doesn’t he have 6 inches of boxer shorts showing above his sagging jeans, or a few piercings in his face?

Not that one.
This is yet another Superman. They’ve been starting a new one every few years now.

Jor-El and Lara would never send their son out looking like that. Neither would Jonathan and Martha Kent.
Just despicable.

I didn’t know they were still making comic books. I guess there are comic book stores around somewhere. I just haven’t seen one lately.

I was half way expecting him to have a crescent moon and a scimitar on his chest.

or a few piercings in his face? Because he couldn't find Kryptonite studs?
Seriously how could he ever get piercings?

Actually, this is the new costume.
...and it still looks stupid as Hell. Why does Superman need armored boots? What, is he afraid he's going to stub his toe on a kryptonite rock?

As someone who grew up in the 50’s reading Superman, I think the direction they are taking him is ridiculous. What next? Will he be turning black next? Change his name to Super-Weiner?

Well, He’s a Kommie traitor now, so his gay azz outfit isn’t all that surprising.
Well, except the color tone. Could be a bit more muted.

I explained to my boys when they were small that Superman isn’t brave because there is very little likelihood that he can be harmed.

BINGO!
First thing I thought of too. These commies are everywhere now....even in the comic books.
Good grief! It’s getting very creepy in this country right now.
