[Credit: Rogelio Bernal Andreo] Explanation: At 2nd magnitude, Polaris is far from the brightest star in the night sky. But it is the brightest star at the left of this well-composed, starry mosaic spanning about 23 degrees across the northern sky asterism dubbed the Little Dipper. Polaris is famous as the North Pole Star, a friend to navigators and astrophotographers alike, but it's not located exactly at the North Celestial Pole (NCP) either. It's presently offset from the NCP by 0.7 degrees. Sliding your cursor over the picture will locate Polaris and the NCP as well as other stars of the Little Dipper. The stars are shown with their proper names preceded by their greek alphabet designations within the ancient constellation Ursa Minor, the Little Bear. Dust clouds suspended above the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy are also faintly visible throughout the wide field of view.

I'm working on somethin'...
Another battery thread?
As to your post: WHAT are you working on?? I'm a little kid in a 52 year old body and can't stand secrets...well unless of course it's 'my' secret. lol!
Uh-oh. I think Edward Teller said the same thing.
Same here in a 72 year old body...I believe thats why we are called Children of God....we don’t really grow up, just grow old and hopefully wiser....
It’s disappointing how many people think the Pleiades is The Little Dipper. I teach everyone I get the chance to how to find the North Star.
God’s cruel joke. Wisdom and patience in a 48 year old body.
In my experience, people tend to look for the brightest star and assume its Polaris.
beautiful pic.
I hate to try and read that info. that comes with Medication...print to small, too much information that is useless but have to get out a magnifying glass to read all that crap just to check out the directions on how to take it...No patience anymore, throw the bottle against the wall then pick it up and start reading again..yikes.
Then there is the problem of finding the ingredients in an 18 pound bag of dog food, cuss under my breath, get out the mag. glass again and keep reading....no patience anymore.
Have gained a little wisdom...government sucks big time, politicians lie if their lips are moving. Everyone is out to screw you out of your money, poo on them, "love your family," it makes life worth living except for their teen years...ah wisdom. They grow up somewhat around 35...then you can hopefully stop worrying about them (yea right)... But God's cruel joke is really wrinkles and sagging skin as a reward for hitting 72...He and I must talk about that sometime...
And why is it everything breaks down at the same time...just put new brakes on car---503 dollars, also need struts (another 700 dollars) decided i didn't need them that bad. Tractor not working, son came out to fix it, its fixed but my trailer in the barn filled with another son's stuff and too heavy for me to life out...no more yard clean up until he moves the stuff...(one silver lining ).
Another son came out and put in a new exterior door for me..(see love your family written above) Son # 3 is taking me to the casino for a day trip..(see love of family above).
It just upkeep that keeps me out of patience...Need a new hot water tank, when it goes on I can hear the rust particles bouncing around...
Read in the bible that man's life span is 3 score and 10. If strong 80 years filled with sorrow and pain....Not filled with sorrow and pain, just filled with pi$$ed off at upkeep and mechanical things not running...:O)
A cardinal built a nest in one of the small evergreens in front of my house and when I try to weed that area, get dive bombed. Need a hard hat quick....Oh the joys of old age.
THEN BODY PARTS START TO WEAR OUT...OH WHAT FUN...cannot be an organ doner, parts have been used up and are worthless to anyone else....:O)
I had to go grab my glasses today to make sure I was actually taking asprin and not taking dog vitamins. LOL
belly laugh, its wrong to steal your dogs vitamins...
lol. You're so right. The wisdom part though...that's something that seems to elude me. :(
Don’t store your Krazy glue next to the eye drops.
Uh oh, splain it to me!
No kidding, nowadays, I just want to cut to the chase!
ROFL! Well, if after you take them you start to start poking around the cat box for a snack you’ll know....
I kinda liked the big version of this pic, it’s really nice as wallpaper on a wide-screen monitor.
Look for the Big Dipper. Find the end two stars on the “cup” part. Form a pointer with those two stars and it will point the North Star. Then the north star is at the end of the handle of the Little Dipper.
