I like to use Elon Musk after shaving.

What we “can do” and what we “will do” are obviously not the same thing. The political will that drove Mercury, Gemini and Apollo 1-11 is gone. I don’t think it will ever return but I would love to be wrong.

It would make a great base (’shallow’ gravity well) to go chase asteroids (mining) and because no one has found any teeming critters there, maybe the enviros would let the materials be smelted, refined, and used there.

You are kidding? Space-X has gets hundreds of millions of dollars in government money each year. Elon Musk’s most significant accomplishment is making you think he built his company with no government money.
