A cockfight fighting event turned deadly for one man.
Thirty five year old Jose Luis Ochoa - died after he was stabbed by a rooster. The blade attached to the rooster hit Ochoa's right calf .
From the Bakersfield Californian:
"An autopsy Wednesday revealed that the accidental death was caused by an injury to Ochoa's right calf, according to a Kern County Sheriff's Department news release."
"I have never seen this type of incident," said Sgt. Martin King, a 24-year veteran who noted the major arteries that could have been severed. "People have been known to bleed out from those injuries if medical attention is not obtained immediately."
Better watch what you say, I just got a good name calling for making light of someone dying!
I’ll have to post some pics of the cockfighting spurs saw in the Philippines. 3-inch-long hooked razor blades. They’ll easily kill if mishandled.

The rooster was just defending itself. If a man was assaulting you and you killed him while defending yourself, I would say the same thing, that he deserved what he got. If he hadn’t been forcing the rooster to fight, he wouldn’t have been injured and he’d still be alive today. Karma has a way of coming back and biting us in unexpected ways, in this case it was a rooster’s beak.

LOL! The guy deserved it. No one needs to torture animals and obviously people as well. Bullfighting is another BS disgusting “sport.”
I appreciate the warning, but I have no more sympathy for someone torturing a rooster than I would for someone torturing a child. This isn't a story about animal rights, it's a story about animal cruelty. The rooster was just defending himself.
Karma is a bitch, thats for sure. Placing so little value on a humans life has to really take a toll on your karma.
You see to have a dislike for violence and yet celebrate this guys violent bloody death.
Yeah I’m not a big fan of bullfighting either. If bullfighters want to show what hardasses they are, they should smack the bull across the face with their bare hand.
Oh well.
If you engage in criminal activity or torture animals - sometimes the animals fight back. I have no pity for a person engaged in torturing animals for fun or money. One less criminal dirtbag walking the street.

Nature needs to be respected. I have no respect for dog fighters, cockfighters, etc. I have no problem with hunting or meateating, but this ain't right.
I don't give a flying damn about roosters. True, cockfighting is rather cruel and I wouldn't take part in it, but chortling happily about someone dying just because he was less than kind to a damn bird? I care about HUMAN lives.
It is worse then that, this was a rooster used for cock fighting, so it could be termed death by cock.
I thought only Liberals engaged in moral relativism. Cock fighting is nothing like killing animals for food. It’s unspeakably cruel. He didn’t humanely chop off the rooster’s head to eat him, he forced him into fights to the death. It’s bloodlust, pure and simple.

Well, I’m not defending cockfighting. But I don’t believe anyone has to force roosters to fight. It’s their nature. They fight for dominance, to decide who will rule the roost.
Of course, adding spurs to their feet changes the game. But I suspect that the winning rooster enjoys it. I don’t know that, since I’ve never watched a cockfight and don’t intend to.
