I thought only Liberals engaged in moral relativism. Cock fighting is nothing like killing animals for food. It’s unspeakably cruel. He didn’t humanely chop off the rooster’s head to eat him, he forced him into fights to the death. It’s bloodlust, pure and simple.
Well, I’m not defending cockfighting. But I don’t believe anyone has to force roosters to fight. It’s their nature. They fight for dominance, to decide who will rule the roost.
Of course, adding spurs to their feet changes the game. But I suspect that the winning rooster enjoys it. I don’t know that, since I’ve never watched a cockfight and don’t intend to.
There’s definitely an element of sadism in there. When Vic would ‘rescue’ a dog from the humane shelter, if it turned out not to be sufficiently aggressive he would torture it to death. Who knows if that kind of sadism will be confined to helpless animals? Eventually it could bleed over into other types of sadism and cruelty.
