I named my daughter after you, sir. You will always be one of my biggest heroes in life and I thank God every day that I lived and grew up during your presidency. Happy Birthday Big Guy! Thanks for the legacy!
God Bless President Reagan. I frequently tell my children how his presidency truly made it “Morning Again in America” after the dark night of the Carter years. How, when he was elected, those Iranian terrorists knew what to expect and immediately released those poor hostages. How when he was shot, my mother stopped the car on a bridge near DC. We couldn’t go on & we got out to just listen to the radio. How his sunny spirit was still on display whe he said to Nancy, “Honey, I forgot to duck.” And to the ER doctors, “I hope you’re all good Republicans.” How the Communist threat we had known all our lives withered and blew away because of his leadership. How his goodness trimphed over evil.
How proud he made us as Americans. How joyful he was in so winningly expressing his love for and pride in our unique, amazing country. I thank God to have been born here.
He and Lincoln are the true sons of Illinois. Happy Birthday, Mr. President. We know you are watching over us & you must know how you are inspiring us again a dark hour.

I enjoyed reading that. Beautiful. I think one (of many) reasons we remember him so fondly was his wonderful sense of humor.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the peaceful life that I have lived these past 47 years. As a college student in the 80’s, I was worried that the world would be melted down into nuclear oblivion — but, whew! Not so with you at the helm. Due to YOUR strength and ability to stand up to the evil in this world, we made it just fine ...and my husband and I married and raised a family during one of the most peaceful and prosperous times in our nation.
Not sure about the future now, however. My next 40 may not be quite as comfortable or quite as secure. But with you in our memories, maybe many of us will gather the courage and strength to fight off the same old evil ...and ensure that our children will be able to live in a world as peaceful and propperous as we have enjoyed.
My husband and I made a trip into in East Germany at the time the wall fell (he was stationed in Germany at the time). We were young, but I’ll never forget the scenes of East Germans who had packed up all they had into one or two suitcases and lined up to cross into the West at the Brandenburg gate. They were SO joyful, and nervous ..but mostly just joyful to be able to see their relatives to see FREEDOM. They were all so ragtag and unhealthy looking — but this is what communism does to people.
And THAT was what Reagan did for THOSE people ...not just us here in the States. He gave the gift of freedom to others as well.

President Reagan had a remarkable life and one comes away humbled after looking at every aspect of one of this wonderful American depicted at the Presidential Library.
He was not only the best American President of my lifetime (to date) but I was always - always - proud to think of him as our President. Ronald Reagan inspired hope, faith, confidence, patriotism, optimism, and a thoroughgoing sense of decency, honesty and charity toward others.

I will always be so thankful that the first President I ever got to vote for at age 20 in 1980 was Ronald Wilson Reagan! How blessed to be in my 20s during the last great years of America! (I wish I didn’t believe this to be true, but unless times change, I fear it is)...Character, values, honesty, positive and encouraging leadership are all the great parts of his life that will make him one of the top 5 greatest Presidents in US History.
It’s amazing to think of how one man from such humble beginnings could do so much to benefit the world. Indeed, we were blessed.
