We need you now, Reagan...more than ever.
The GOP today couldnt hold Ronald Reagan jockstrap. He was a man among men. Standing tall and proud.
REST IN PEACE.....

Sans the Gipper, the evil socialist Obama would have been redundant.

100 years...the sprout of America's glorious rebirth as a moral, virtuous and blessed nation broke ground 100 years ago.

RWR was not perfect but damn! no-one else has come closer!

He made the ages of 3 to 10 some of the most incredible years I’ve ever lived as an American. You really felt that you were in a truly special place, and could do anything.

The spirit he infused in this nation was almost beyond description.

Thank you, Mr. Reagan, from all of us Reagan Brats of GenX!

May we never forget his example.

I can't improve upon the sentiments of Baroness Thatcher's remarks at RR's 80th birthday:

Twenty-five years ago in a famous speech you, Mr President, quoted Franklin Roosevelt to the effect that we all have a rendez-vous with destiny.

Certainly you had such a rendez-vous.

Thank God you were on time.

Hats off to you, President Reagan.

You changed America for the better in so many ways - economically, spiritually, and upliftingly.

You changed the world for the better in so many ways - turning back the tide of Communism, cooperating with other great leaders (Pope John Paul II, Margaret Thatcher, Lech Walesa, etc.), and lifing all boats with a rising tide.

Your legacy lives on today, and you will forever be in our hearts and minds.

Sincerely,
A Thankful American.

Thank you, President Reagan.

How far our politicians have fallen from your fine example of statesmanship.

Most of those who sit in office are mere politicians, and I do mean that in the lowest sense of the word.

As an added note, you enabled me to attend college during a powerful wave of patriotism that helped me and many classmates to speak out against academic leftists. Knowing you were at the helm gave us courage and comfort and I cherish those years.

Many excellent RR threads on FR...none of them complete without the excellent compendium of Reagan quotes here gathered by PsyOp : Reagan: The Great Communicator In His Own Words.

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work — work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it.

First Inaugural Address, January 20, 1981

He’s my absolute favorite President. I’ve only posted two threads on FR the entire time I’ve been here, one was of President Reagan’s quotes. But you’ve got me beat, I did not name my child after him.

From ages 6 to 14, he taught me what a president SHOULD be. To many young Americans, he was a second grandfather, especially with the sadly high rate of divorce and broken homes amongst my generation. Having just buried my maternal grandfather this week, to whom I was very close, I can honestly say, I thought back to the day Reagan died. And yes, I shed tears then, unashamedly as I shed tears now. I am proud to say, my grandfather, an FDR Dem, did vote for Reagan, twice.

Happy birthday Mr. President. Thanks for more than you know.

We who live in free market societies believe that growth, prosperity and ultimately human fulfillment, are created from the bottom up, not the government down. Only when the human spirit is allowed to invent and create, only when individuals are given a personal stake in deciding economic policies and benefitting from their success — only then can societies remain economically alive, dynamic, progressive, and free. Trust the people. This is the one irrefutable lesson of the entire postwar period contradicting the notion that rigid government controls are essential to economic development.
