To: Ghost of Philip Marlowe

From ages 6 to 14, he taught me what a president SHOULD be. To many young Americans, he was a second grandfather, especially with the sadly high rate of divorce and broken homes amongst my generation. Having just buried my maternal grandfather this week, to whom I was very close, I can honestly say, I thought back to the day Reagan died. And yes, I shed tears then, unashamedly as I shed tears now. I am proud to say, my grandfather, an FDR Dem, did vote for Reagan, twice.

Happy birthday Mr. President. Thanks for more than you know.

Good memories and thoughts. I, too, cried when President Regan died.

I’m sure your grandfather is in President Reagan’s current company and they are sharing some laughs together.
