Pardon the vanity, but Dennis Miller on O'Reilly last night mentioned this movie on US education as the best of 2010. It looks like it was made by the director of Algore's movie so I would expect a left wing bias.
Has anyone here seen the movie?
...actually it’s very strong anti union, it explains where the money goes.....debunks the “it’s for the children” BS.
I heard the filmmaker interviewed. He’s a leftwing guy and he set out to make a leftwing movie but the facts didnt support it and his movie (to his surprise) is more conservative in its positions.
I dont think the movie is as reactionary as Ravitch portrayed it, but I also dont think its very good. An Oscar doc voter agrees. It was a great deal of hype. I felt like Id seen the story before. It also tanked at the box office, relative to what was spent on promoting it, adds the education expert. The true unforgivable sin in Hollywood!
I haven't seen this movie. I don't think it came to my area.
Lets see it would seem to me that you are advertising.
I saw it in a theater. I never thought I would pay to see a documentary. I cried with the families at the end.
Another really good documentary is "Mugabe and the White African". It shows what and uncontrolled Marxist dictator is really like. It is interesting that the dictator's thugs used a lot of "share the wealth" rhetoric (where have I heard that before?) as they confiscated private property based on race by threats of and actual violence.
I thought the movie was excellent. It was really thought-provoking.
I’ll have to check it out. Now I have the Flaming Lips song by the same title in my head.
“Ill have to check it out. Now I have the Flaming Lips song by the same title in my head.”
First thought I had when I heard the movie title - wonder if it was used in the movie?
If the movie ever comes to cable I’ll find out.
It has only about 20% to do with the kids on a yearly basis.. even less when considering maintenance and operations of facilities.
I’ll have to as well.
I can’t imagine Wayne Coyne allowing a Flaming Lips song to be used in this documentary if there’s any sort of a conservative theme to it. I like him, but he’s a little out there to say the very least.
My local TP had a trip to the movies to see this. Will infuriate and sadden you at the same time!
Definitely not left wing.
“I like him, but hes a little out there to say the very least.”
Yea, I’ve had to pretty much divorce my connection between artists and their “beliefs.” Otherwise I’d have virtually no movies or television to watch, or music to listen to.

Isn’t that the truth!
It is and the director a left wing wacko was not even nominated for this movie and the Oscars - shows how strong the unions are in hollywood.
Every woman in the theater was crying.
They had a big showing here for the Union members and then covered their spin on the local news. It was disgusting.
