I saw it in a theater. I never thought I would pay to see a documentary. I cried with the families at the end.

I had the same reaction. Watching those families at the lotteries as their dreams for the kids were shattered was just heartbreaking.

I thought the movie was excellent. It was really thought-provoking.

I cried at the end as well. So sad the these lower 'tracked' students aren't given the same opportunity to succeed.

Wouldn't it be great if people like Rush would seed to money to open a few magnet schools in the poorest of cities????

Just finished watching this film. Wasn’t sure what to expect. I was so angry and just felt so bad for those kids. I know they played on people’s emotions because I cried like a baby at the end. Don’t care. It was wonderful!

There are so many factors involved in creating a great school. No unions, excellent curriculum, dedicated teachers, kids that aren’t hungry, etc. It amazes me how many hoops you have to jump through. We homeschool but through an online academy. The owner is opening a boarding/charity school run out of his home. He has so many families that want to enroll but he can only take small numbers due to laws/paperwork, etc. The kids could be in a horrible environment at home but the state won’t let them in to his home. It’s sheer madness!
