I know it is early days yet, the wedding isn't until Summer 2012, but I think I have found my mother-of-the-bride dress.
Here is the basic patterm. I am on a major diet and am hoping to get down to a size 6 or 8. I'll make the dress to a mid-calf length in a dark red crepe. The challenge will be if I can find an appropriate lace for the jacket. In the back of my mind is to order the fabric now, with perhaps a matching gauze, then tat or crochet a special lace. I am thankful I have 18 months to get it done.

Very cool! Give me 100 years, and I could never produce something like that!
Now if my cat will allow me, I'll post some links...

Wow.......very pretty dress! If you get down to a size six, you won’t need but a yard of material!

That is a beautiful pattern. Good luck with the diet, you’ll get down to the size you want.
But today, go ahead and have a piece of Birthday cake. It’s you day. Happy Birthday, Jem.
