Wikileaks cable reveals U.S. conspired to retaliate against European nations if they resisted GMOs
Natural news ^ | December 24, 2010 | Mike Adams

Wikileaks continues to rock the political world by shedding light on conspiracies, corruption and cover-ups. The latest batch of diplomatic cables released by Wikileaks reveals what can only be characterized as a U.S.-led conspiracy to force GMOs onto European countries by making those countries pay a steep price if they resist.

The cable reveals the words of Craig Stapleton, the US ambassador to France, who was pushing the commercial interests of the biotech industry by attempting to force GMOs into France. In his own words (below), he expresses his frustration with the idea that France might pass environmental laws that would hamper the expansion of GMOs:

“Europe is moving backwards not forwards on this issue with France playing a leading role, along with Austria, Italy and even the [European] Commission… Moving to retaliation will make clear that the current path has real costs to EU interests and could help strengthen European pro-biotech voice.”

Got that so far? His own words: “Retaliation” as a way to “make [it] clear” that resisting GMOs will have a price.

Stapleton goes on to say something rather incredible:

“Country team Paris recommends that we calibrate a target retaliation list that causes some pain across the EU since this is a collective responsibility, but that also focuses in part on the worst culprits. The list should be measured rather than vicious and must be sustainable over the long term, since we should not expect an early victory…”

As you read these words again, remember that these are the words of the U.S. ambassador to France who is suggesting the US “calibrate a target retaliation list” in order to “cause some pain across the EU” that must be “sustainable over the long term.”

Monsanto’s interests

BINGO. MONSANTO.

Our "Representatives" and our fedgov are nothing but corporate whores to the highest bidder - JUST in case anyone was naive enough to believe they actually work for WE The People.

The problem is that genetically modified crops produce sterile seeds. So the farmers have to keep buying new seed (from Monsanto) every year.

Shall I take my product and shove it down your throat backed by gov’t threats?

I suspect you already realize how lame that statement is. The situation is not the US government forcing anyone to buy any product but European governments forcibly preventing people from selling them.

They don't want to buy

If they didn't want to buy the products, why would it be necessary for European governments to prevent people from selling them? They wouldn't need to act against the products at all if their citizens had no desire to purchase them.

Monsanto. The real authors of S510.

The enemy of your enemy may not be your friend. In this case, the US government probably wasn’t working in our best interests. Which is why brokencondom-boy leaked it. So if you don’t have a scorecard, the known enemy of the American people (Monsanto) has been outed by a known enemy of the American people (WilkiLeaks).

GMO seeds do not reproduce. Heirloom seeds produce plants which you can save the seeds from and replant them. You have to BUY GMO seeds EVERY YEAR for your crop. He who controls the seed controls YOUR FOOD! Read the FOOD SAFETY LAW just passed.

The problem is that genetically modified crops produce sterile seeds.

Your statement is only PARTIALLY accurate.

Seed that contains 'the terminator' gene does not produce more seed. But there are other types of genetically modified seed. For instance, there is seed that is resistant to glyfosate (genetic name for Round-up) and there is Bt corn, which is resistant to certain types of corn bore. Both the Roundup resistant and the Bt varieties can be reproduced from their own seed, altho in some situations, farmers are asked to sign an agreement NOT to plant bin run grain, using it as seed, the following year.

There are plenty of NON GMO hybreds, and farmers have a choice as to what they plant. If they don't want to sign the agreement NOT to use the grain they harvest as seed for the following year's crop,, they can just plant another variety.

How can the people know if a seed is GMO? I buy seeds and don't know if they're sterile or not.

George Soros' hedge fund has just bought 897,813 shares (valued at $312.6 million) of Monsanto.

I envision a future in which Europeans are literate and can read the packaging on the products they buy.

See my post in #27

Heirloom seeds are absolutely NOT THE ONLY seeds that reproduce. There are plenty of Hybred Seeds that reproduce seed, and as I mentioned before, there are plenty of GMO seeds that reproduce seed, as well.

Could you please provide us a source for your statement?

Craig Stapleton, the US ambassador to France

Don't this actually mean he represents France on the US's behalf ?

Wouldn't this actually mean that France is being duped by it's own Representative ? If so who is holding the purse strings someone in France or someone in the U.S.?

Not all. Some of their patents are starting to expire.

Monsanto is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, which is in the US, last time I checked. It is normally expected that the US government protects American interests against foreign conspiracies.

By law, a package of seed must be labeled with the Germination Rate. Example: 85%,, 97%, etc.

Hybred seeds are going to have a much higher germination rate than most heirlooms. That doesn't make the heirlooms bad,, it actually makes the produce grown from the Heirloom Seed more valuable.
