It is about 5 feet wide by 12 feet long. Has lattice top and the end where the door is. A bit over 6 feet high, which is covered with chicken wire. One side is fence, one side brick and there are two bathroom windows on the house side;, one of which I can open and let the house cats out and in.
So now the homeless cat “KeeKee” has been in there for a few months while his wounds healed. He has his claws and is a bit wild. He will come and sit on my lap and he likes it. Yet he will not allow me to pick him up willingly. So naturally I rarely try to pick him up.
When I took the first two cats (Annie and Roma, females neutered) in, I had their front claws removed. AWFUL! thing to do. Still it allowed me to have them in the house. So naturally they can never be outside free. as they have no protection. The vet pointedly told me never to let them outside. ... thus the enclosure. So now they have not been allowed to go out for this time that “KeeKee” has been there. It is not fair to them, and they do not undersatand why it is I no longer let them go out. All three weigh approximately 10 pounds, a bit more or less. They all have their shots and feline leukemia vaccinations too.
In the beginning KeeKee slept inside the front fenced courtyard. I bought a warmer and had it there for last winter. Foxes are reported to be seen fairly often on my roof. It is wood shingle (newly) roofed a few months ago. we had a hail storm last year. Foxes like wood roofs. Composition roofs get too hot as do metal.
WOW! Sorry I did not intend to write so much.
I have gotten myself in a kind of a pickle, cause I have not felt like turning ‘KeeKee’ out free. There are a couple of other male cats always outside around this block or area, and they fight Thus, his wounds (twice). My daughter (lives in North Carolina, says take him to the SPCA. 'No kill place'. What has been true during the recent harder economic earning times is the shelters or full, full and over run.
I have a heart for animals through no fault of their own are abandoned in dangerous places. Years ago we were not so aware of them getting in car motors for warmth... but once we know that, how do we ignore their plight? Hope I did not tell you more than you wanted to know. I tend to do that.
Your bird graphics are gorgeous, Amy!
Excellent idea ... letting students experience walking in the shoes of the ones they would be overseeing. and serving.
The difference in talking about swimming and actually swimming is the example that first comes to mind,
Second is the difference between expecting to have a baby and actually having one.
Nothing like the real thing. 10 days is not long but definitely a step in the right direction.
Medical workers are trained to be emotionally contained and even a bit disengaged in order to do their jobs, especially in traumas. Being upset is not the way to function well.
God bless those caring for the lives of others, in Jesus name, amen.

You will be in my prayers Monday for your knee replacement.
I am reading of your kitty saga..My daughter is a rescuer..I have 3 of her kitties and would have another but 3 is my limit..
She and a neighbor found a sympathetic vet who would spay feral cats at a reasonable price..She has 8 cats so even she has her limits..They had 17 cats spayed..trapping them was a problem..The mothers would abandon kittens( I helped her with 6 of hers that a mother abandoned when they were a week old)...Also kittens would arrive on her patio with terrible viruses and repiratory disease..
I have all indoor cats now..I have been through the terrible results of fighting and infected puncture wounds with my Sassy I years ago. He had his front claws removed but had his back claws..The vet said they really defend themselves with back legs..Having been kicked once by a cat..I felt the power and believed him.
That was years before the outrage over declawing..
DO get the kitty neutered. My indoor/outdoor male Sassy was neutered and still got into fights..but it helps.
My kitties will briefly let me pick them up ..I do it as often as I remember to try to get them accustomed to it..I let go as soon as they struggle..Only one REALLY fights it..Smokie is scared of her own shadow at times.
They all love petting and being close to me.
Mine still have all claws..in deferennce to my daughter...
I have throws to hide the sofa corners..LOL
I would love to have an enclosure like yours for them to enjoy. Good luck on solving the use of the enclosure for all.

Hi Meg! What a lovely winter graphic with leaves still on the tree’s! And with a beautiful frame, too!! Right away the gazebo reminded me of where I often took d’Ogee when she was just a puppy. Of course it wasn’t near any water, like your graphic!
Hope you have a dreamy day, as well! :)
Amen, JOHNN...I’m saving this wonderful tribute to our militay.
