Read the book and enjoyed it. Saw the movie and did not.

>>DUNE!<<
*DOH* Still one of my favorites (the original). The look and feel were so close to what I imagined when I read the books it was like De Laurentis (Dino — why he tossed a “producer” bone to his daughter is pretty obvious: her job was to fetch the coffee) was in my head.

Yes. One giveaway is he had pictures of a fake family like the others.
It is a toss up for me with Ridley Scott’s other amazing film - Alien. Two outstanding movies.

"39: War of the Worlds (00's version)"Drivel. Two hours of the cute kid screaming.
"33: Mars Attacks!"
LOL - Awesome.
"32: Solaris (00's version)"
Blech.
"23: Serenity"
Cool!
I liked Event Horizon, but I guess that's more Space Horror than Sci-Fi.

Fifth Element should be on the list. No it shouldn't, Chris Tucker was so annoying, I turned it off midway through.

15: Independence Day
After seeing that I realize that this list is pure mental masturbation and not worth spending 5 seconds on it.
How about Enemy Mine or The Last Starfighter. Or how about Dune?
Independence Day? The worst movie ever made.

He was but we always were able to get back to the hot chick in the duct tape outfit.
And the opera singer was amazing... IMDB says the singer said it was impossible to sing the piece as written but did it anyway.

Galaxy Quest.

Great book (Heinlein, of course), but I heard the movie was very disappointing. Anyone like it?As a separate movie, it was okay. Decent action. It cannot be compared to the book, however, as in that area, it was a complete miss.
