Exploding the “That Wasn’t A Missile” Myth

By Gargantua

What appeared to be a missile rose from below the horizon, streaking into the sky off of California leaving a condensation trail identical to the kind that have been filmed being left by a ground-or-sea-to-air launch of a Minuteman missile or ICBM.

First, the Government was inexplicably mum on the topic. Next came a series of sometimes contradictory explanations. Now, days after the event, the finally agreed-upon explanation hits every news station all at once. “It’s the con-trail of a jet returning from across the Pacific.”

There are two glaring problems with this obviously false “explanation.”

First, the shape and density of the con-trail.

A missile launch would be more dense and wide at its base, just as we see in the images we’ve been shown. A jet’s con-trail would be thinner and smaller the further away as it trailed off toward the horizon. We see the opposite in the availale video footage.

Second, the lighting.

In the video footage, we see stratus clouds out over the ocean behind the rising missile. The setting sun is shining on, and illuminating, the bottom of those clouds. On the con-trail, however, the illumination from the sun appears on the right-hand-edge; just as it would if this were a launching missile’s vertically rising con-trail. There is no illumination of the underside of the “jet’s horizontally oriented con-trail” because it is not a jet’s con-trail, it is a vertically-oriented missile’s launch contrail with the sun lighting up the side away from us. Very obviously so.

The Government must think we are at least as stupid as they are if they think this lame explanation is going to “fly.”

So, you can’t answer my question, again and you make a personal attack. Not Slovakian, born and raised in the USA.

Now, where is the ionized gas cloud? Where are the reports from pilots? Where are the reports from people north and south of this “launch” How come the next day, the exact same type of contrail was photographed when US808 was flying in the same area?

Where is one single provable scintilla of evidence to back up your claim?

I don’t know answers to those questions. I ran across this link on another thread. I also ran across this report of the event (maybe others have read this, but I hadn’t) and found quotes from Langley Research Center. Image was caught on Satellite. Read here:

NASA and the Obama Defense Department have almost zero credibility right now. NASA due to its lies about AGW and the Defense Department because it is led by Obama. A man who set a timetable for removal of our troops from Afghanistan that we now know was a flat out lie. The best credible evidence for or against various theories regarding this matter will come from third parties which are independent of politics. IMHO.

Another eye witness report is recorded in the LA Times. The girl’s name is Kelly Spear. She lives in San Pedro and she took pictures. That is reported here:

http://articles.latimes.com/2010/nov/10/local/la-me-1110-mystery-missile-20101110/2

So now we have a satellite view of it which describes it as looking like it was headed straight for Catalina and this Kelly Spear who assumed it was coming from Vandenburg AFB. Surely someone with math skills can take these accounts and approximate a direction and beginning point? I know there are other eye witness accounts. Several logged in to post comments on the KCBS web site. I don’t know why so many insist on saying no one but the Copter pilot saw it.

I haven’t been able to find a reference to the video being seized by the DOD as someone had said earlier and I mistook for factual, however, the reporter, Gil Leyvas, has a facebook account. I do not use facebook, so perhaps he has said something there?

Anyway, I believe there is more info. available if one is willing to dig for it.

Thank you. No, I hadn’t seen that. Not a great video but it looks a lot more like a missile than an airplane contrail too.

Yes, I agree. Was not able to find anything factual about gov’t seizure of the video. Don’t have any idea where that originated. Anyway, I’m maxed out for tonight. Maybe someone will get to the bottom of this!

I had a lot to do today so I couldn’t be here. Still have to go to the other links you provided and look that over. There will still be people examining this. Thanks for pitching in.

Isn’t ever aircraft tracked at all times? Seems to me it would be pretty easy to find out if there was an aircraft at that location at that time . YES ?

"A missile would look like that," said Bowers, whose 27-year career has included stints as chief or lead engineer on such programs as the SR-71 spyplanes turned over to Nasa by the air force.

Gee, I guess this guy is just another dummy too. /s

Thanks for the link. This will probably end up being one of those TWA 800 affairs. As another poster said, people will choose to believe what they want. Part of the motivations I think are psychological. No one really can deal with this being an in your face launch from China or a terrorist warning from Iran or North Korea. Especially since we have a President who could care less about America or Americans. If it was a missile the only good news would be if it was a classified test of some new defense systems. Would have been better to do the test during a heavy marine layer. Only planes and helicopters would see it then. And those pilots do not want to lose their licenses.

"Now, where is the ionized gas cloud?"

I put it in a Ziploc baggie and hid it in my freezer, next to my jar of college beer-farts.

"Where are the reports from pilots?"

Well, right where you left them... they didn't get up and walk away by themselves! Duu-uuh!

"Where are the reports from people north and south of this “launch?”

I forwarded them to the people east and west of the event, lest they feel left out or needlessly ostracized.

"How come the next day, the exact same type of contrail was photographed when US808 was flying in the same area?"

It was a case of "hundredth monkey syndrome," group-hallucination deja-vu. But I'm sure you already knew that... a good Slovak never asks a question he doesn't already know the answer to.

"Where is one single provable scintilla of evidence to back up your claim?"

Sitting on top of all your scintillas of red-herring straw-men, emitting explosive flatulance from laughing so hard at your feeble, neophytic attempts at disinformative propaganda. I'll give you a B+ for effort and an A- for dedication, but this time there will be no milk or cookies.

And let this be a lesson to you and your sloping slavic forhead, protruding orbital sockets, unibrow and cow-catcher primate nose: We don't take kindly to these attempts to buffalo us with a hastily thrown together laundry list of Commie sgünderblatt talking points repeated ad nauseum as though spewn by a possibly well-trained but highly unimaginative chimp.

Now off to bed with you. There are actual gullible imbeciles elsewhere who you should try to impress on the morrow. Ta-ta!

You’re not being humble and you know it. You’ll pray for me? lol, You don’t even know me.

Funny how you all of a sudden know me. Interesting. Please, tell me more about myself that I don’t know.

Yet you know how many comments I’ve made to people’s threads by roaming around in my account information.

Now, where is the ionized gas cloud?

What is this ionized gas cloud phenomena you speak of?

Its quite telling that you have absolutely no answer for my questions, instead making racial slurs. Even more funny is that I’m not slavic!

Now, are you going to actually answer my questions, or continue to make slurs?

Walk your talk, answer the questions, show me some proof and some data.

If you have ever seen a launch at sunset or night time, after the launch, when the rocket gets high enough, you will see its trail glowing in the ionosphere, plenty of pictures of what that looks like, I’ve seen in on plenty of launches. If this was a missile, you would be able to see it for hundreds of miles in all directions, yet, no reports at all from anyone, anywhere.

Your insults are so clever you feel the need to post them twice.

And I saw a missile launch just this morning. Must have been a Chinese sub lurking in the Ohio river.

"Walk your talk, answer the questions, show me..."

Still at it three days later, eh? Well, I owe you guys big time. Now let's give it a good last push... I would love to hit the "500 replies" milestone. Do you have any idea how few posts ever reach that "Gold Star" of Freeperness? We've already reached the top two-percentile of all-time Freeper Popularity, let's go that extra mile and get our post into the FR History books, what say?

I love you guys! But as for "walking my talk..."

...what the hell does that even mean? It's like "sitting my stroll" or "building my write;" it sounds cool, but like the rest of your overly-emotional Eastern Bloc ignorata, possesses no substance or meaningful foundation.

Again, thank you all, let's get this done!

Your pal,

Gargantua
