Is there a vast right-wing conspiracy to keep Bristol Palin on "Dancing With the Stars"?
There is a popular theory on the Internet that Tea Party supporters are rallying to keep Sarah Palin's daughter on "DWTS."
This notion has been dismissed by Bristol Palin and her partner Mark Ballas.
But because every thing connected to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin gets linked to activists, some "DWTS" fans think the call-in ballot box is being stuffed.
There is an organized Palin support group known as "Operation Bristol." It was started by nationally syndicated radio talk show host Tammy Bruce who urges Palin's conservative base to vote for Bristol. Other Palin action groups apparently have picked up the cause.
Also fueling the conspiracy theory is the fact that Bristol Palin has been one of the weakest dancers on the show.
She does have an appealing charm and she gets credit for trying. But many "DWTS" fans think Bristol should have been sent home before Audrina Patridge, Rick Fox and Kurt Warner.
Bristol has said in interviews that it is "ridiculous" to think that all of her mothers supporters are keeping her on the show.
A lot of bloggers who recap every "DWTS" episode feel Bristol Palin should have been voted off this week instead of former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner.
Warner turned in his best performance of the season and wowed the judges while poor Bristol stumbled her way through two dances.
She has improved since the season began but does she deserve to still be on the floor?
Bristol Palin has made it to the final four and will be competing against Disney star Kyle Massey, actress Jennifer Grey and singer Brandy.
Thanks for the laugh! (AT you, not with you, BTW). Tell us, who was REALLY responsible for 9/11 in your world?
Oh good heavens these people are deranged!
Actually, it’s her Facebook fans who are having their families and friends vote for Bristol and Mark. And she does not get judged fairly. They’re underscoring her constantly.
Hmm, maybe they should do an article about why the judges are scoring her badly and not others? And it isn’t because she’s dancing badly.
Good point - I’m in that group too.
Oh spare us.
This is just another “rightwing conspiracy” angle for the network to push. It’s the, “fear the rightwingers!” BS.
The network is keeping Bristol on because it means RATINGS.
That’s all, folks.
Ad hominem.
I guess you gotta use what you’ve got.
In your world, does Hollywood love Conservatives?
So? This is Dancing With The STARS. That means they’re all famous, most probably more famous than Bristol. They all have a chance for their fan base to push for them to win.
You betcha.
And all it says to me is there are more of us than there are of them.
This Tea party family is.
Actually Bristol did very well on her Argentine Tango this week, easily her best dance since her “Prom Queen” waltz a couple of weeks ago. Her Samba on the other hand left much to be desired. The girl just doesn’t have much speed in her legs and feet or the hip action which the Latin dances require. As for Kurt I think he was being given inflated scores for the last few weeks. He was stiff and lacked the technical finesse to get the scores he was given. I agree that Audrina was much better than both of them, but it is always a bit of a popularity contest and I don’t think anyone knew who she was. The two best far and away are Jennifer Gray of “Dirty Dancing” fame and Brandy the pop singer. Kyle is another Disney kid with a lot of energy and crowd appeal with slightly above average dance skills. I fully expect the Bristol will go next week as she probably should, but it has been fun voting for her and then going on the DWTS forum and watching the liberal heads explode.
Petty.
My wife has me watching this show ... painfully! ;-)
Although I think Bristol is the next to go, I can say that she had different problems than Kurt but he had problems as well. They got all 8’s from the judges. Kurt appears ‘uncomfortable’ on the dance floor, in a different way than Palin ... but both are a far notch below Kyle, Brandy and Gray.
So, if Bristol stays next week, I would hazard a guess that there is a group keeping her in.

You are so right. As a lady said in the audience a few weeks ago “the judges are democrats”. Mark’s reaction last night was incredible, a roll reversal, with him sinking with head down before rejoicing, Bristol just there. I do admire Bristol. She brings joy like Sarah and apparently the whole family. I wish I had learned to destroy the “opposition” while smiling beautifully.
Beware, some freepers really really trash her. It seems they would have preferred she abort her baby boy and hid the whole thing.
So what’s the problem? It’s a free country and if they can garner enough votes more power to them. It’s not like it’s important.
Bristol has improved every week and she does have good footwork, and she also tries hard. Not a Star. She is a young girl finding her way. Why attack her? Shame on those attacking her because of her Mom.
MOO
A lot of the people I talk to who religiously watch the show are tired of the “ringers” brought in each year (those with entertainment backgrounds, especially those who have had serious dance/choreography/movement training in their past). The cast this season was a bit weak anyway, with some real duds as far as staying “likeable” as the season progressed. Some of these viewers have decided to vote for Bristol because she is a complete non-dancer with little entertainment experience and she is improving and taking advice gracefully.
Still, I am sure there are plenty of people voting for Bristol because of who her mom is, but there are likely just as many NOT voting, or actively voting against her, for the same reason. That’s the way it works with audience-participation competition shows. Every year there is at least one contestant who overstays in respect to their actual dance prowess. The judges will sort it out in the final week or two, and take that person out.
I actually think it’s rather enlightening to follow the comments about Bristol at the more liberal entertainment board that I belong to, you’d think she was stomping on kittens or something, real anger and hatefulness coming from those who claim to be so open-minded and “caring”.
What? what? WHAT? Has somebody been pretending to be a Democrat and voting multiple times? LOL, I love it! Don’t they squeal pretty when they fear their own tactics are used against them?
“Quite frankly - as beautiful a dancer as Jennifer Grey is, I cant stand her mental breakdowns and CRYING all the time. Half the reason I am pulling for Bristol is because she is drama free... she is holding it together and does not complain.”
I’ve gotten really tired of Gray’s theatrics, too. The first one, when she recalled working with Swayze, had me shaking my head. According to his bio, they didn’t get along on the set of DD, and he really disliked her. ( http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/09/24/2009-09-24_patrick_swayze_memoir_recalls_jennifer_grey_as_a_pain_on_set_of_dirty_dancing.html ) She had a lot of drama on the set then, too, so it’s just more of the same.
She needs to cowgirl up or put on her big girl panties, whatever it takes, because it does not make her look like a winner and I think it will cause her to lose votes. To much “poor me” going on with her.
