Mysterious tunnelThe tunnel that exists on the 2-acre lot is a well-like shaft 3.5 feet in diameter that descends 14 feet straight down, and then extends in two tunnels that are tall enough to stand upright in. One of those tunnels extends 16.5 feet north before it ends in a cave-in, while the other tunnel runs south for 62 feet before it also caved in. The walls, ceiling and floor of the tunnels are all lined with large stones, some as big as 5 feet in length.

Northwest Connecticut. Mohicans were the dominate tribe there.
I’m betting on CT bc the original article was from the Hampshire Gazette.
Go down 11W from Churchill to the red light at the underpass and turn left. That is Goshen Valley road.
LOL! And they could find the same fruit cellar complex in any of them too. ;-)
Do they have any other tourist attractions like the worlds largest mud ball, or rubber band? ;-)
I have no idea what this old exclamation means. Goshen (the place) is in the story of Joseph.
Down the Goshen Valley road a piece is the turn off to Laurel Park where they filmed the Mell Gibson movie the River.
It refers to Lando Calrissian’s real dad.
It’s the word of with the f being silent, so you pronounce it like an a, example: Land a Goshen. A very common thing at one time for various expressions and usually from some country such as England that had heavy accents such as the cockney accent.
That’s another kettle of Giju.
PS, I forgot: The expression is like a swear word only with out bad words. I used to hear my old Arkie relatives use it. Such as “Land o’ Goshen the cat sh** on the rug again!” or something similar:) Although why they didn’t use something stronger if they were going to throw the sh** word in there anyway, I don’t know.
That’s very annoying, isn’t it. The state should always be mentioned somewhere, and not obliquely as it is here. Also, as in the case of Ohio [blush], the county.
[aside] There’s an news reader on one of the radio stations who cannot, for the life of her, pronounce “Tuscarawas.”
