The limited message sounds like a windows message. You can get that if you can connect to your router, but the router is not talking to thie net.
Check you DSL/Cable modem and then make sure your router is talking to your ISP.
Are you running any firewall software? If so, it may need to be reset to recognize the new router configuration.
Have you verified that it is acquiring an address from your DSL/Cable modem? If the router doesn’t get a ISP IP address you’ll get that message and will not be able to surf the internet.
On a related note, look into using an Open Source firmware on your 54G and unlock more features. Both Tomato and DD-WRT are good choices and of course free.

Have you tried calling Bombay?
Login to the router via your browser using the address 192.168.1.1. Default password is admin. No User name is needed.
Check out your status first to see if it's connected to the internet. If it isn't, turn off your DSL or Cable Modem and your router. Leave off for about 20 seconds, turn on the modem first and let it come ready. Then turn on the router, let it come ready and give it another try.
Check you DNS settings.
First - power off your DSL modem, then the linksys box... then, power up the DSL modem - wait for about 2 minutes to make sure it’s up - then power up the linksys box.
Obviously you’re NOT logged in
I do have to wonder why you upgraded the firmware on your WRT router. Was there a specific problem that you needed to fix or was it a case of "Oh, an update, shiny...."?

Get to a command prompt:
ipconfig /flush
ipconfig /renew

Time to get a new router. I really like the Linksys E1000. It was $60 and it is much faster then the old router. Very easy to setup also.
Make sure all the lights are ON the cable router that connects to wireless purple model. If the lights are not ON =no connect. If lights are On check cable connect. Then see if works with plug in. If that works. You then have a problem to solve in purple wifi device. I have this same one. Then try next step.
U are supposed to write down the DNS setting etc before you press that pretty little update button as it wipes it all out. Sadly they did not let you know this ahead of time.
Just out of curiosity, try pinging 192.168.0.1 and see what you get (the default IP for my Netgear router).
I would suggest connecting directly to the router with a ethernet cable - after bring up a DOS prompt - see if you can ping 192.168.1.1 - (ping 192.168.1.1) which by default is the router. If you get timeout then that means no. Power cycle router with your PC connected to router - see if you can ping that address...IF so bring up a brower - put 192.168.1.1 into the URL filed - log on - and check to see how your wireless is configured. I’ve seen that message b4 and it’s ususal an indicatinon thatyou are not able to authenicate on your wireless network. Re-type the key - perhap change your SSID. after doing that disconnect PC - reboot the PC - and try again.
I had this problem in my office a couple years ago...bascially the Netgear routes and the Linksys were blocking each other...they were both trying to issue IP numbers to the connected devices. I solved it by DISABLEing the DHCP server on the Linksys router.
That’s a fairly old firmware version. I’m running 3.03.9 and the picture someone posted above shows a similar (if not exact same) version.
