...and everyone thought my idea to name our springer WalMart was weird!

My grandmother named her female orange tabby “Peter”, because she didn’t want the cat to know she was female and have kittens. True story.

My personal favorite was the name given her cat by my third grade teacher. She, never having had a cat before, named the stray “Benjamin,” “Ben” for short. When Ben threw a litter of 4 kittens, she promptly changed the name to “Ben-Her.”

These are most likely their pedigree names. No owner goes around calling their dog by that name.

BTW, we have two Springer Spaniels - Oskar and Madison.

"Dogs should have simple two-syllable names that are easy for the dog to recognize."

Timber and Ranger agree wholeheartedly.

Peter never got pregnant.

I suspect (hope) my grandmother had the sense to seeks the services of a vet while Peter.

Dogs should have simple two-syllable names that are easy for the dog to recognize.

And that you won't feel like a damned fool calling when your dog has decided to take an unaccompanied tour of the neighborhood.

Our dog’s name is Brew, but we’ve given him so many nick names. Brewski, Bubbies, Flopsies, Flops, Bat Ears, Ricky Rodriguez, Flopsietown, Mr. Flopsie Flopsterton...

Most of the “flop” names originated from the way he runs. His head, ears and paws all seem to flop around.

When he’s bad he assumes nicknames that can not be repeated on FR.

I had a cat named Dammit and a dog named Rabies. Sadly both have been gone for a long time.

My four year old tomcat is named ‘Sporkweasel’ in honor of the famous FR zot series.
