What my plan was when I created the ZOT
(and how I ended up) ^ | June 28, 2010 | Lord Dagon

Posted on 06/28/2010 12:43:57 PM PDT by DagonofAlbion

I deposit the Risk into the account of a dummy finance company for management, called the republican party.

Then, I deposit the damage into the account of a dummy corporation for control, called the democratic party.

I leave all the bible belt religions as spoilers, or third parties; putting them down as department store chains. To stave off the profit into the mints money burning facility, to insure that the money is worthless in terms of pragmatic value, and is only practical believed values.

And the Black market is pimped as bad but, even losing even your kindeys in a hotel bathtub on a drunk, is a value laundering scheme...

Thank you all for your input and participation!!!

Home from the pool. It was hot out, but that’s why you go to the pool.

Hm. Given the recipients of that note, you didn't call it it the poolpool?

Just for a little emphasis? Some other languages, I have learned, regularly double words for emphasis. Very very interesting to see it occur in English too.

The WSJ had a really interesting article this weekend on how language affects thought. After learning some Gaelic, a language that very explicitly conveys a worldview different from most Western cultures, I've suspected something like this. But not to the degree of what's asserted in this article.

Hm. If I can figure out in which language LoM is currently thinking, does that make her more predictable? *\;-)

(And, LoM, what would the Gaelic--Farsi axis look like?)

Does Language Influence Culture?

I remember hot where even that wasn't enough. We retreated to basements.

You’re a descendant of John Howland? I’m a Mayflower descendant, too!

My direct ancestors are George Soule, Francis Cooke, Stephen Hopkins, Isaac Allerton, and Richard Warren.

Apparently there was bit of intermarriage going on (not much to choose from for the surviving Pilgrims.) I’m descended through the Downer/Cushman line on my mother’s side.

I swam in an old pool on Alameda Navel Air Station that was huge. The center was 16 feet deep because it was design for pilot training. Their was a platform at the top of the hanger to throw the pilots off of. Well thats what the told kids they would do to them if they got to rowdy. I thought it looked cool and asked if they would throw me off. I got my first taste of what congressmen talk like then.

I went and read the WSJ article and found if fascinating.
The following quote caught my eye for two reasons> first, it was uttered by my direct ancestor (Charlemagne), and next it is a remarkably accurate statement.

“The question of whether languages shape the way we think goes back centuries; Charlemagne proclaimed that “to have a second language is to have a second soul.”

I have 13 languages in my repertoire and at times that presents difficulties. For instance when one language fails to have applicable terminology or phraseology to accurately describe a situation I routinely “switch” to one that does. It is far easier to do when conversing with other polyglots! Sionnsar and I hav e mutual friend who came to stay with us for six months following a personal tragedy. She was multilingual, like I and we had all three languages in common: English, French, and Spanish. As our conversation unfolded, Sionnsar noticed us “switching” between languages and was amused by the lag in my accent from one language to another by about two sentences or so. I was oblivious to it, but he wasn’t. Somehow, the thinking and the language did not “switch” concurrently - a brain thing I guess.

I agree to a point with the author of the article that language affects though, but I also have experienced how thought influences our choice of words and even of languages for expression. I am quite delighted with the languages available to me, but still, at times, feel limited in my ability to express myself nonetheless.

I recommend people acquire at least two other languages besides the one of their culture of origin. It keeps one flexible in outlook. - My nickel’s worth.....

Farsi to Gaidhlig - oh yes! I remember the Gaidhlig class very well!

One night I was asked a question and the instant answer I gave was in Farsi! not Gaidhlig. The look on our teacher’s face was priceless and the laughter that resulted took us all into another dimension. Another student gave up French in a subsequent class and the laughter continued. We became known as the laughing class. I discovered that laughter greases the skids for learning - perhaps because people relax and lose some of their nervousness. We all enjoyed the classes immensely. I wish we were back together.....

LOL! "The Four Kittehs of The Apocalypse"

How very apropos.

I'm dragging a few other "brothers and sisters" into this one, and begging all of your gracious indulgence...

You see, I am presently engaged in preparation for a takeover of a completely different kind, and of FAR greater moment, and gravity.

While I thoroughly enjoy this little enclave of un-seriousness we call "The Undead Thread," and the respite it affords from the foul winds that erupt from the bowels of our government and the so-called- "leaders" of our ever-more-corrupt society, I have long been restless for a revolution of such mind-bending power and scope that none such has been seen upon the Earth. Ever.

And lest anyone misunderstand, I wouldn't give a fig for anything that does not reach the moral and spiritual foundations of this Republic, and THAT brand of revolution doesn't appear on a field of battle. Make no mistake, however, it was just that brand of revolution that preceded the shooting war that rent the bonds of subjugation between England and the American Colonies. That revolution is remembered in history as "The Great Awakening," and it is to that — the revolution BEFORE The Revolution — that America owes homage for every vestige of her greatness. This nation erupted as a phoenix from the still-potent embers of that spiritual inferno.

But the fire that forged this Republic has been left to cool. In fact, in recent decades it has been doused from nearly every quarter. In this hour, throwing water — or worse — on those hallowed old ashes has become a rite of passage in our society; you aren't really "in" until you've pissed on all that's Holy.

The time has come to play for keeps. The time is now to gather, to repent, to intercede, and to cry out for mercy. The nation we all really want to live in cannot be had by merely swapping a score of D's for R's, because the issue isn't labeling; the issue is widespread toleration — even exaltation — of moral failure, debauched character, and the active embrace of the selfsame Darkness that is the root of all that we regularly decry in these forums.

What insanity leads men to cry out against the freedom-destroying incursions of corrupt government in one instant, then to bop over to playboy.com the next? Is the screaming hypocrisy that invisible? Is there NO recognition that the corruption of government and the corruption of pornography share a common root? Yet, that is where we stand, and there are any number of FR screen names who will curse Obama in one breath, and defend Playboy in the next; curse the Devil's left hand, but bless his right.

We have seen the enemy, and he is us.

So it is that, on September 4th, I will be on the Capitol Mall in Sacramento interceding. I will be crying out to God for mercy on behalf of my children, my extended family, my community, on behalf of all my many FRiends; imploring The Almighty for mercy upon the very heart and soul of America. This is an all-or-nothing effort for which there is no "exit strategy" aside from bona fide Divine Intervention.

With ALL the sobriety and gravity that I can muster, I call upon any of you who fear God: Join me. Come to Sacramento and throw in your lot with YHVH.

Come.

Play for keeps.

And pass the word.

There is currently a 140 days of prayer effort for our grand land.

And some of us have fasted for a different 30 day prayer, vulnerability concern for traumatic economic disasters looming very close at hand.

Things will not be getting better in the natural—BEFORE ARMAGEDDON, imho, except IN THE KINGDOM OF THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB . . . BUT THAT’S THE SUPERNATURAL REALM, PRIMARILY.

All authentic believers must stand up and be counted vs being cowardly or AWOL or slackards.

Only in the Strength of Our Lord Jesus can we do anything—yet we do well to cooperate to our utmost with Holy Spirit’s leading, imho.

Thx thx.

I suspect by that date . . . that if the venue is still standing, it will be packed because of events between now and then.

Good morning! Very interesting stuff. In order to carry on a conversation in Spanish, I have to get all the people to stop yelling at me in English.

Yes, I AM a descendant of John Howland! Small world, eh?
When I lived in Tucson, I did the genealogy for my neighbor who was born in Chicago. Our lines met at the Mayflower. John Howland was the father of two daughters...his line and mine!

Of course, at that point, the rest was easy as the lines went straight to the royalty. Now, because there is so much online, I have details I thought I’d never have, so trying to restore what I lost in the last crash has taken me MUCH longer to do.

Still, it’s addictive!

Tell James I miss him, too, and that I will come back when the time is right. But I will come back!!

Barring that, I could take a Tax-Chicklet for a week at a time, maybe starting next spring. That would help us all, I think!

Many reasons why not in person. However, I’ll do my share of praying for the success of the effort. :o])

It’s such a long way out there!

James also told me I was very, very old. He’s such an encouraging youth.

I found an outfit in the closet that hadn’t fit recently. It’s great to have free “new” clothes! I’ll have to walk across the street looking thin, just for the ego-enhancement.
