We’ve seen the long term forecast tracks typically shift to the right over time. Hopefully, South Texas will receive beneficial precipitation. Unfortunately, the forecast also calls for hurricane status by early Tuesday, and Category 2 storm just before landfall.

I’m guessing you saw this over at WU:

nws brownsville this am
LONG TERM /7 PM MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...THANKS TO WFO CORPUS CHRISTI FOR INLAND AND MARINE FORECAST COORDINATION EARLIER TONIGHT.
OPTED TO MAKE NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO THE FORECAST INHERITED FROM THE PREVIOUS SHIFT...MAKING ONLY MINOR ADJUSTMENTS TO PRECIPITATION...CLOUD COVER...ETC. CURRENT FORECAST IS BASED UPON THE OFFICIAL
NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER TRACK OF TROPICAL STORM ALEX...WHICH MOVES THIS SYSTEM NORTHWEST ACROSS THE SOUTHERN GULF OF MEXICO AND THEN WEST INTO MEXICO...MAKING LANDFALL SOMEWHERE IN TAMAULIPAS.
WITH THE FORECAST PACKAGE FOR DEEP SOUTH TEXAS...HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CRAFT WHAT EFFECTS ALEX WILL HAVE HERE. FOR TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...
INSERTED MENTION OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND GUSTY WINDS WITH THUNDERSTORMS...BOTH VERY POSSIBLE WITH THE SQUALLY BANDS OF ALEX.
IN ALL LIKELIHOOD...FORECAST FOR THE LONG TERM PERIOD WILL CHANGE...GIVEN THE FACT THERE REMAINS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE FUTURE TRACK AND INTENSITY OF ALEX.

The folks on FOX News are saying that this storm likely will not directly hit the relief well digging, but then always add that this year will be the worst since 2004 - 2005. How can they be so sure of this is June?

Your meal sounds great, except for the macaroni salad. Make it potato salad or cole slaw and I’ll be there (if invited).

This storm was called, “Alex”, the next should be “Barack”.

Sure could use the rain, not as critical as last summer, but there’s no sense in getting behind.

Keep those remnants out of the Lower Great Lakes. We don’t want more rain.

No need to worry Obama will part the waters so crews can plug pipe.

I hope they plug it with Obama himself.

This storm was called, “Alex”, the next should be “Barack”.

And the screams of “RACIST!” would be louder than the wind.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the coast of Texas
from Baffin Bay to Port O'Connor.

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for...
The coast of Texas south of Baffin Bay to the mouth of the Rio Grande
The coast of Mexico from the mouth of the Rio Grande to La Cruz

A Hurricane Warning could be required for a portion of the Hurricane Watch area tonight.

It’s a little odd that the NHC issued both a tropical storm watch and hurricane watch for the same area at the same time. I’m half expecting that they will post a correction for a tropical storm warning and hurricane watch.

Thanks for the ping Nauti, and for all you do.

Just got back myself, and need to get on top of it.

It is, seemingly would illustrate a lack of confidence in the forecast.

Maybe just a misfire and they’ll straighten it out on the next one.

Oh, we had a fun little moment, speaking of weather, passing thru Tahoka TX on the way to NM a couple of weeks ago. The storm chasers making some IMAX movie all passed us and I swear we saw some circulation in a field off to the left of us. For the first time ever we pulled over because the wind was so strong it was pushing the car sideways (we lived in West TX for many years and have taken a direct hit by a tornado in 1994, so we are not wimps).
We later found out a semi trailer had been blown over by winds not far from where we were and winds were clocked in excess of 84 mph. A car was not the place to be! I prefer hurricanes to tornadoes myself!
:)
