The counties in the worst shape appear to be ones with extremely high concentrations of illegal immigrants. The counties in the best shape appear to be ones with extremely low concentrations. Perhaps the claim that illegals take jobs Americans won’t is a fabrication.
Why am I not surprised that the most depressed counties are ones that have been dominated by liberals for decades.
It IS a fabrication especially in the kind of economic depression this country is in.
Do not go by government statistics as they do not accurately paint a true picture of just how bad the economy truly is.
Good to see my county is only #14 on the list of most stressed.....

Man, this really is a blue state / red state issue, it’s so obvious yet not mentioned in the article of course, if the democrats control you you’re headed toward poverty ...
I wonder why none of the border counties in AZ made the list. When you have ranchers and police officers being shot, I would call that extremely stressful. They are probably talking about “social” services being stressed. Were I the police chief down there, and one of my officers got shot, I’d deputize the county and pop anyone coming across the border carrying a gun.
Good point. “Stressed” is not defined in the article. I assumed it meant financially stressed.
Scratch that. it dies say “economically stressed” in the article.
I am strongly supporting a group called Americans for Tax Reform.
The dominant issue in 2011 will be whether to lower the deficit by raising taxes or cutting spending or a hybrid. Any increase in taxes will lock in the higher spending levels of the Obama presidency and will bring us that much closer to socialism. When Obama took office, he raised government spending from 30% of GDP to 40% (once health care is fully implemented). He borrowed the money. Now, we will either roll back that spending or raise the taxes enough to make it permanent.
Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) has developed a no-tax pledge and is asking every candidate for any office to sign it. At my web site, DickMorris.com, I link to this list. Before you vote in your Republican primary, please check it out and make sure you only back candidates who take the pledge!
But we need to keep the ATR strong and growing. We need to feed this particular watch dog because we will need its bark and its growl and its bite desperately as this election season unfolds.
I want to urge you to donate to Americans for Tax Reform with a financial gift of $25, $50, $75, $100 or more! In the coming deficit war, it will be ATR that will man the frontline in urging House and Senate Republicans to stand firm in opposing higher taxes.

The only liberal county on the least stressed list, Arlington, VA, is where all the Washington government officials and employees live.
I would bet those ranchers and communities on the border in AZ are “economically stressed” as well.
