Memorial Day
~C W Johnson~

We walked among the crosses
Where our fallen soldiers lay.
And listened to the bugle
As TAPS began to play.
The Chaplin led a prayer
We stood with heads bowed low.
And I thought of fallen comrades
I had known so long ago.
They came from every city
Across this fertile land.
That we might live in freedom.
They lie here 'neath the sand.
I felt a little guilty
My sacrifice was small.
I only lost a little time
But these men lost their all.
Now the services are over
For this Memorial Day.
To the names upon these crosses
I just want to say,
Thanks for what you've given
No one could ask for more.
May you rest with God in heaven
From now through evermore.

Good Morning Dave, I would like to thank you for your service to our Country also as we remember all our fallen. Also paying tribute to my hubby as a 4 year Navy Hospital Corpsman.

Heavy hearts we have but so thankful to those who have given their all and for those who were willing to do the same.

It was a difficult day for me yesterday - everything really tugged at my heart, especially when I heard Ray Charles singing “America The Beautiful”.

So many pictures flooded into my mind of the way our country “used to be” and how much has been taken from us all in such a short time.

Our Soldiers died to protect that Freedom!

It is something we all are going through right now, I am sure - and we must not give up hope.

I’m so glad you got to hold your lil’ GGdaughter. I’ll bet when she looked up at you, and grinned her little toothless grin, that you got those lovely ‘baby-love goose-bumps’!

No, I don’t guess you missed any...I just wrote to tell you why I left so quickly. After they called, I had to hurry and shower and dress and go....LOL! I believe I answered some of your posts, the best I remember. I said I was glad to go because of the sadness we all feel on Memorial Day!

Barbara just called and we both ran our phones down...thank goodness I have the second one to go to when one dies besides the cell. I’m gonna listen to your music in just a moment. Thank you for the links!

We know this ... do we honestly live this way? I may quit posting. I did a beautiful Memorial graphic and poem (I thought) this morning and not one soul has mentioned it! You know I get that way sometimes. Maybe I should change my ping list....LOL!

We are going to a local cemetary for Memorial Day Activities and want to make it early enough to catch the fly-over.
