Good evening.
This morning the beauty of the countryside as I drove to church was heart-stopping. It is a landscape that has become very dear to me thru the seasons: in the river's valley it's easy to fall quietly into another time, another age. And then I remembered nature's terrible destructiveness yesterday on other landscapes, places that others hold dear. How to explain it all?? I can't..not easily.
Then at church, there was much joy: the confirmands were accepted into the church's membership with celebration and love. All these young people had found focus and purpose on the past year's journey.
But our church family also absorbed some terrible news: a dear couple has learned that the husband has a deadly cancer.
And there again the juxtaposition of joy and deep sorrow. That was the theme of the day, and perhaps many days in our lives and that of our country.
Thinking about it off and on throughout the day, one thing does seem clear. And that is that with God's help, it is possible to face it all...a rich, precious existence, not always understood, but appreciated nonetheless.
woo Hoo! I’m in.
I want the poppers. Love ‘em!
Welcome to the thread! It’s a wonderful place on FR.
A couple of days ago, I sent Rush an email asking him why Obama was silent on this thing......like he wanted his own Katrina.
And put on the music in the background.
You know, “when in Rome, ...”
Ducky Derby....that’s cute!
How about a law to regulate our “esteemed” lawmakers?
You never know when you get a dumb Congressman. Oh wait, maybe we do. Isn’t that what the “D” stands for?
>>NO SHRIMP FOR US ON THE TABLE? SHRIMP
I have it on good source that Obama had a team blow the oil rig so he could bash the oil companies - but it wasn’t supposed to get out of hand like it did and now he’s regretting it.
[OK- I’m acting like a Dem, now]
This is what Beck has been hammering on this week. The alphabets are carefully avoiding it, but good to see IBD picking it up.
From the article:
Federal employees now are paid much more money than their counterparts in private industry. Is Obama willing to acknowledge that they earn "enough" and should forgo future pay increases? Obama himself earned more than $5 million last year. Is that "enough"? George Soros has made countless millions from currency manipulations that many regard as little better than extortion. Does he have "enough"?
I suspect that "enough" will prove to be a standard that is both highly flexible and intimately related to political influence.
In his mind corrupt money is good ...hard working money bad.
Good evening.
Hey, there! I just got in from supper. I met a good friend at a local deli at 5:30 and we talked and talked and talked and talked. So very much fun.
People have done despicable things in the past. Events have been staged and manipulated. Why wouldn’t such evil occur again?
lysie, remember: I'm going to start the thread tomorrow.
Ok then, see you tomorrow. ‘Nite all, sleep well, sleep sound, rest.
