Good evening.
This morning the beauty of the countryside as I drove to church was heart-stopping. It is a landscape that has become very dear to me thru the seasons: in the river's valley it's easy to fall quietly into another time, another age. And then I remembered nature's terrible destructiveness yesterday on other landscapes, places that others hold dear. How to explain it all?? I can't..not easily.
Then at church, there was much joy: the confirmands were accepted into the church's membership with celebration and love. All these young people had found focus and purpose on the past year's journey.
But our church family also absorbed some terrible news: a dear couple has learned that the husband has a deadly cancer.
And there again the juxtaposition of joy and deep sorrow. That was the theme of the day, and perhaps many days in our lives and that of our country.
Thinking about it off and on throughout the day, one thing does seem clear. And that is that with God's help, it is possible to face it all...a rich, precious existence, not always understood, but appreciated nonetheless.
In case you didn’t know, somtimes I post things that are kinda not the truth like how Duck Hill got its name——oh well, I have fun and, I AM OLD so I can get away with it.

You crack me up, Toby. :-)
Big time smell...Dems hope for stacking the deck w/future dem voters: IF they vote for statehood, they would get 2 Senators and up to 6 Representatives....dem majority forever.
8 Representatives.
Oh, my. Thanks for the correction. I am hoping and praying that they do NOT want to pay income taxes w/a choice for statehood.
POTUS: "I think at some point you have made enough money."
HT - Michelle Malkin
I don’t know about coulter but the Townhall website can’t be accessed all morning :(
He made over $5 million in 2009. How much does he define as “enough” and has he reached it yet? I just want the same breaks that he got.
Hope your day is going well. More errands to run!
I know many people who practice that.
I think we're being too hard on the poor fellow.
I agree with him, just as I support gun control.
I do believe at some point I will have made enough money.
Making enough money = being able to acquire everything I ever want, desire, and need.
[Gun control = hitting the target.]
Yup...your choice, my choice..and others. Not the feds.
Ha! Love it!!
I’m so glad you’re here on Friday afternoons to get the party going!
Anybody familiar with Rome ??
