Good evening.
This morning the beauty of the countryside as I drove to church was heart-stopping. It is a landscape that has become very dear to me thru the seasons: in the river's valley it's easy to fall quietly into another time, another age. And then I remembered nature's terrible destructiveness yesterday on other landscapes, places that others hold dear. How to explain it all?? I can't..not easily.
Then at church, there was much joy: the confirmands were accepted into the church's membership with celebration and love. All these young people had found focus and purpose on the past year's journey.
But our church family also absorbed some terrible news: a dear couple has learned that the husband has a deadly cancer.
And there again the juxtaposition of joy and deep sorrow. That was the theme of the day, and perhaps many days in our lives and that of our country.
Thinking about it off and on throughout the day, one thing does seem clear. And that is that with God's help, it is possible to face it all...a rich, precious existence, not always understood, but appreciated nonetheless.
OBAMA!! Hey, watch TV and see the oil spill, don’t need you to ‘look at the situation’, sheesh what a dork.

Off to run some errands.
Your most humble servant.
Off to do some work (not really).

Doing good the big storm last week just missed me by 60 miles.
Thanks and please add me to ping list.
Let me translate:
"Looking at the situation" is washington-speak for "how can I use this for a policy advantage." (Both parties do this.)
But - "policy advantage" to the Obamination means "how can this be used to further my leftist dictatorial desires?"
Haha I used to 2 step alot. I do blacksmithing for a hobbie,I will post pics someday. I am attempiing my 1st garden, may have over done it but I have 11 rows 100’ long, but I’ve got all the equipment to take care of it.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
Prayers for this family who’s life will never be the same. Tragic.

I don’t know anything about Coulter’s absence from townhall. I don’t follow her, as I feel she makes Conservative Women appear to be angry and alouf.
I agree with what she says most of the time, but I don’t like the way she says it.
Same thoughts on TX,and same thoughts on Cowboys,LOL.I lived in Del Rio from ‘93-’97.
A quick welcome to the newcomers. This is a great thread where we come to have respite from the news forum but still discuss politics among a great many other things. We pray for each other, care for each other. We are a family here.
Northern Yankee, I’m sorry about your friends’ death. You’d be a great friend to have at such a time.
Okay, I’m off and runnin’ again....:^)
Good Morning! I’ve got a day full of meetings.
I know where Duck Hill is. I go to National Guard drill at Camp McCain sometimes. Last year I bought a 1953 Pontiac down at Duck Hill, haven’t fixed it up yet but will get around to it someday.
I know what you’re talking about. I live in Auburn, AL and the storms went on a parallel path on either side of us. Fortunately, we got rain.
This weekend is the Ducky Derby here in the Upstate of SC....you buy a numbered ducky for charity and first thing tomorrow morning, all the ducks get dumped into Reedy River and the duck that crosses the finish line first wins!! Kids love it!
