Good evening.
This morning the beauty of the countryside as I drove to church was heart-stopping. It is a landscape that has become very dear to me thru the seasons: in the river's valley it's easy to fall quietly into another time, another age. And then I remembered nature's terrible destructiveness yesterday on other landscapes, places that others hold dear. How to explain it all?? I can't..not easily.
Then at church, there was much joy: the confirmands were accepted into the church's membership with celebration and love. All these young people had found focus and purpose on the past year's journey.
But our church family also absorbed some terrible news: a dear couple has learned that the husband has a deadly cancer.
And there again the juxtaposition of joy and deep sorrow. That was the theme of the day, and perhaps many days in our lives and that of our country.
Thinking about it off and on throughout the day, one thing does seem clear. And that is that with God's help, it is possible to face it all...a rich, precious existence, not always understood, but appreciated nonetheless.

We, amoung possible thousands of coast residents, are heading for the beeches today just to look, and get sick. Our beeches are a big draw and with along with the casinos, the motels are always full as are the casino hotels.

Oh, Molly, that is beyond sad! I am so sorry. You would think they would be safe, so close to home. And on their way to school! They were doing normal activities, behaving properly, were in the place where they should be as opposed to sneaking off somewhere for all kinds of mischief. My heart weaps for that family.
Bless you for being available for your friend. I know Mary will be missed. Your presence there in the time of need will minister and bring comfort more than any other action can. I’ll pray for your strength and compassion today.

Our weekend is going to be stormy it seems. Spring here in Upstate SC has just been fantastic...terrible pollen which means beautiful flowers and green trees.
Wish I could be around more, but life is hectic...others are here more.
This a.m. I'm headed into the woods with a friend looking for bluebells...that may be an antidote to all the bad news....

Wednesday I visited a friend who had three pictures of morning glories on her wall. Just the pictures were enough to brighten the day!
I was just reading that. The wording of the referendum is suspicious. It is an up-or-down vote on “Do you want to keep the status quo?” The RATS are squelching the fact that if they vote “no”, the Puerto Ricans will have to begin paying income tax.
This is pure pandering to get the hispanics to vote RAT.
Part 1 - Do you want to stay a commonwealth, or be something else.
Part 2 - After a plebiscite on Part 1, another plebiscite on: if you want to be something else - independent, federal territory, or state.
