In 2003, she made a dramatic break with the party leadership, including Gov. Frank Murkowski, over ethics issues. The turn could have left Palin an exile from politics. Instead, it propelled her to a landslide victory over Murkowski. Now, as the Republican nominee up against "old guards" from both parties, Palin is again pitching "fresh ideas."
The main product Palin is selling this year, is Palin herself.

It was a sharp contrast to her attitude toward the Daily News expressed in a 1993 letter, in which a seething young Wasilla city councilwoman called the paper "dangerously biased" for its coverage of Sen. George Jacko.
"How can you justify your restraint in slamming the Clintons, Kennedys, Marion Barrys and other philandering, chauvinistic left-wingers of the world?" Palin wrote at the time. "Your yellow, liberal rag is so obvious. I pray we will someday have a choice in newspapers again."
In early 2004, Palin announced she was weighing a challenge of Lisa Murkowski for the U.S. Senate. In the end, she announced she was endorsing Murkowski's Republican opponent. She said at the time that her then-14-year-old son had asked her not to run.None of these maverick positions were taken with the goal of setting up a run for governor, she says. When she appeared in ads, she said, she still didn't know whether she might run for lieutenant governor in 2006 or make a run for governor She said publicly that powers inside her own party wanted her "crucified." Her independence captured an insurgent public mood, and by summer she was leading in the polls.

Still, no national consultants have been brought in to hone Palin's message
"It's the most remarkable campaign I've ever seen," said Babcock. "She's just running as Sarah Palin and talking about what comes up."

Notice how her son not wanting her to run for the Senate changed her mind. It's definitely a family affair.
McCain is a fresh idea?
It's not difficult to understand, and although I don't personally like the fact she supports either, the only other way would be to split off from the Republican party and start a third party. Since that would result in several cycles of having the commies remain in power, I grudgingly support those two decisions.
Considering this, there is still no other viable candidate that I would consider supporting at this point in time for the 2012 race, but we are still two years out and she may not even decide to run.
I will also decline to support anyone who does not share her beliefs and standards as a whole.
Don’t get into it tonight.....he or she is trying to take over this thread with his/her McCain things...just ignore
LOL, she sounded like one of us, I am really glad that she worked on refining her style to win larger elections, she seems more Reagan like now.
That was funny indeed...anyone of us on FR would say something like that!! LOL!!
She’s great!
“You want the support of the Republican party, you pay your dues, including supporting the one who brought you to national prominence, along with the current head of the RNC.”
I would have been both surprised and disappointed had she done anything differently than she has, from leaving office through today. And if she doesn’t run, I would support whoever she backed. Instead of squandering her career, she reloaded, instead of turning her back on a rabbi, she didn’t. She is taking a Reaganesque path to prominence and I applaud her. There has never been a more heavily scrutinized person in all of American politics, I think, and there is not one iota of betrayal to Conservatism anywhere in her, in thought, action or belief. Not of which I am aware and if there were, we would all know about it. Consider her backing McCain to be that proof, if you will, but I view it in the same light I did Trent Lott’s kindnesses to his mentor...plain old allegiance without thought or regard of consequence.
“I love that she was writing this in a letter to the ADN back in 1993:”
Yep...there are going to be no surprises with this gal.
Behind closed doors, I think that Sarah and Todd Palin and even her parents, are all more conservative than we see, and I like it that way.
I want a conservative that can speak to the four corners of the nation’s voting masses, and win 51% of their vote.
Our best Presidents - and you fill in the blank - were great because of who they were, not because of how many facts they could regurgitate. Character, good instincts, guts, charisma, the ability to inspire and bring out the best in others - these are the qualities we need in our next President, and Sarah Palin has them all.
Agreed....remember when Todd and Sarah were in Hawaii? Todd was wearing one of those “If you like the Country then leave” T-shirts
I’m mean “if you don’t like the country then leave” tee’s worn by Todd Palin
(((( Sarah Palin ping to a wonderful article that’s a walk down memory lane! ))))
I love how she just let it all loose and told off those bastards. I absolutely HATE the ADN..its such a pathetic sack of garbage paper. I had no clue who they were til Sarah was announced as McCain’s VP nominee, so I went online to try to find some info on her, to find out what she is all about, I typed in “Alaska news” and here pops the ADN, so I go there, thinking “Well, she has huge support in Alaska, let’s check out this site” and the ADN was just so full of hate about her and I was like damn, what kind of crap site is this..never went there again
You should ping the pro Palin Alaskan whose freeper name starts with an e and is 4 letters long, (I don’t remember the name) (she?) would get a kick out of this if she doesn’t already know about it.
Good idea! I’ll do that now.
