Anybody who would worship a monkey god is an as*****...

They also might find a giant Statue of Liberty buried on the beach with a monkey face.

Ok, so they describe it as colossal, but then don’t go on to give any measurements, or at least a picture. Seriously, what gives?

...From the New Kingdom onward, temple statues of baboons are somewhat common. They frequently appear to be squatting on a raised platform, often accessed by a flight of stairs. In the Hermopolis of Middle Egypt, giant quartzite baboons belonging to the reign of Amenhotep III were found. These may have originally been grouped around a sacred lake. Other large statues of monkeys once stood in the entrance areas to the animal cemeteries. In the temple of Babylon in Old Cairo, a statue of a green monkey once stood in the forecourt as the town god...

“Huge monkey god statue found” -
“Egyptian archaeologists have discovered a colossal ancient statue of the pharaonic deity of wisdom, Thoth, in the shape of a baboon, which send tingles down the archaeologists` legs.”
To: SunkenCiv
You know I wonder if we are all getting it wrong and they were simply statues in reverence for their most useful livestock. We just have to find out what great use they put the monkeys to in their society...
Perhaps they trained the monkeys to bring back forage to share with the sick and hungry of the ancient city?

I thought Thoth had the head of an Ibis or stork...

This thread will quickly receive some photos of a certain individual and might get pulled very soon!
Yeah, some folks think comparing Harry Reid to a babboon, which he is, is offensive...

So, a little over 13 ft. high.
