Last Line Of Defense
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. —Romans 8:37

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, was the site of a battle that turned the tide of America’s Civil War. One of the focal points of the conflict was a rocky knoll called Little Round Top where Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain and the men of the 20th Maine Infantry stood their ground. Had the Confederate troops gotten past Chamberlain’s men, some historians believe the Union army would have been surrounded—possibly leading to the loss of the war. The “20th Maine” was the last line of defense.

Followers of Christ are also engaged in a vital war. As we battle “the wiles of the devil” (Eph. 6:11), we are called to wear the armor of God and to stand firm in the conflict (vv.10-18).

And like the Gettysburg soldiers, we have a “last line of defense.” For us, though, this defense is greater than any human force. In Romans 8:31-39, Paul says that our ultimate confidence is in the undying love of Christ. So complete is our protection that nothing can “separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (v.39).

When the enemy seems overwhelming and all seems lost, remember, we have an unbeatable last line of defense: “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (v.37).

We are more than conquerors
Through Him who loved us so;
The Christ who dwells within us
Is the greatest power we know. —Carmichael

God’s plan always leads to victory.

Nice hearing the history of your greenhouse story! Its in the blood for sure. I love in the spring putting in my very small plants and watering every day and watching them grow and grow. Sometimes it looks like they get bigger from night to morning. Its such a wonderful feeling (after all my work is done).

The bad economy has spared me and my family, in this time and previous bad times, as people love their flowers no matter what. I’m very thankful for that and that my health is good so I can still work hard.

Absolutely correct! I would get my plants before groceries...LOL!

Have a sweet, flowery day, TCP!

AMEN!!

And wait until those Dims pass their Health Care Bill this week. We are all screaming “We don’t want this Health Care” and they’re saying “We know whats best for you.” I sincerely hope God steps in on this one!

That pretty well tells it like it is. I’d feel a lot better if I knew the culprits responsible for robbing that kid and all of the other kids her age and younger were going to jail for their crimes. Well... I’d settle for jail but, I’d prefer they were sent to the gibbet.

We are all screaming “We don’t want this Health Care”

Obama’s socialist ambitions have led the Democrats into a quagmire. If they drop ObamaCare, they get the sequel to that 1968 reality classic: “Burn Baby Burn”. And, the Left may be in the minority but, when it comes to civil disobedience, they have a demonstrated record that the Right can’t match. On the other hand, if they pass ObamaCare, they loose an election. They apparently have decided that it is better to shred the Constitution and loose an election than to have their voters rioting in the streets. That’s why something called “Healthcare Reform” is either going to pass or will be pushed until a time when Republicans have to deal with the consequences of either dropping or reversing it.

Now Obama will still be there and still pushing for “Healthcare Reform” or blocking the attempts to rollback anything that the Democrats managed to pass. I guess we’ll see which “third rail” has the most power: the resistance to rolling back an entitlement by a small but violence prone minority or the aversion to socialized medicine by the majority.

I think maybe the Mayans were right about December 21, 2012 being a time for a new beginning and, this nation will either discard the Constitution and join a world of socialist feudalism where we will all toil for the nobility in government or there will be a Constitutional revival that will return the Federal Government to something a lot closer to what the Framers intended. I don’t believe that the status quo for the past 80 years is an option.

“I sincerely hope God steps in on this one!”

Well, it appears that God had a bit of fun with Algore this past winter(coldest in 100 years).

Maybe He will do the same with health care ;-)

It sure would be nice if they could go to jail. I'd be happy if they could walk a mile in the public's shoes!

What makes me so mad is they won't have to go under this Health Care plan. They get the best for themselves. Ohhhh, they make me furious.

I think I would be the happiest person in the world if they had to make an annoucement later this week that would go something like this "We are sorry to announce that the Health Care plan did not go through and we missed it by 4 votes." And they would add "The people who voted no on this plan just do not know what they are doing."

I want all of you to pray for this! God is still in His Heaven!

Hi Billie! We had a very serious day and then last night, we all got crazy and had a bunch of fun as you will notice!! I must get some work done this week. This is Race Weekend here and my niece and husband and their son are coming in from Mississippi for the races. This will be their first race and they are so excited. They will stay at my son’s most of the time but will be here some. And there’s some preparations to be made by me.

we missed it by 4 votes

They can't allow that to happen so they won't hold the vote until they have bought enough votes to ensure passage. If they vote but fail to pass it then their base will go on a rampage.
