My husband’s great-great-grandfather was a merchant in Harpers Ferry before the war, owned a confectionery/bakery there. He was the first civilian to die in Harpers Ferry, here’s his story - http://www.nps.gov/hafe/historyculture/frederick-roeder.htm
His house is in one of the photos on the link you posted.

One of my Union ancestors was captured at Chickamauga. He was taken first to Belle Isle in Richmond, then to Danville, VA where a tobacco warehouse was converted to a prison. Finally he was moved to Andersonville. He died of scurvy there three months before the end of the war.
