he was at the dentist when he heard on the radio that he was dead. Impossible. Old rock 'n' rollers never die.
Rock on, Mr. Lightfoot.
To: Daffynition
He hasn’t aged well. He looks like he’s in his 90s.

I love the guy. Fabulous voice, songwriting.
Spoken by an old rock guitarist here, by the way.

"I haven't had so much airplay on my music now for weeks."
I still listen to Summertime Dream regularly. I played it to death on my road trip out west this past summer in fact. We listened to "Race Among the Ruins" while racing among ruins. My GF had never heard of him until then and now she has that CD in her car's CD player right now. Gordon Lightfoot is awesome.

The folk legend,...was soon on the phone with Toronto-based all-news station CP24. "I'm fine, everything is good. I don't know where it comes from. It seems like a bit of a hoax or something," the 71-year-old singer said...
Clearing up the confusion, the news reporter he was talking to said, "No, sir, we reported your career was dead."

I am so glad he is not dead. He is one of my favorites.
To: Daffynition
I guess it’s too much of a cliche for anyone else to use, but I’m not proud, I’ll say it: The news of his death was premature.
To: Daffynition
I loved Gordon's work in the 70s and 80s but he developed a musical alzheimers somewhere in the 90s. His later CDs were almost a parody of his earlier work, strumming mindlessly about trains and boats.
I'll be very sad to see him pass but I'm glad to know he's going to resume playing concerts.
