Lost Season 6 Spoilers(highlight to see):

From the Lost Events at Comic-Con

• Season six of Lost will be reminiscent of season one in that there will be a lot of running through the jungle and emotional development for the characters.

• The marketing graphic for Lost season six included all our favorite characters (heralding the return of many of them) but the important thing is that the last character added to the animation was Locke, and he was very obviously facing backward, while all the other characters were facing forward. Ahhh, Unlocke!

• According to Carlton the time-travel season is over and the flash-forward season is over and they're moving on to something altogether different for season six.

• According to Josh Holloway in the press room, Sawyer will be destroyed by the tragedy of Juliet, pushing him back towards his original, more "salty" character. He'll still carry around season' five's character growth, but he'll be rejecting it. He also told us (and forgive the gross paraphrase-on-the-run): Functional relationships (Suliet) don't make for good drama. Skate is better TV.

CHARACTERS

• The extensive backstory of Richard Alpert (Nestor Carbonell) will be explored in season six.

• Dominic Monaghan was introduced to the crowd following an In Memoriam montage of all the dead characters (in which it was revealed that Libby's last name is Smith). We can assume a return for Charlie is all but guaranteed.

• As we learned earlier this summer, Elizabeth Mitchell will appear on Lost in season six. According to Damon, her survival is contingent upon Jack's plan working.

• Jeremy Davies will appear as Daniel Faraday in Lost season six.

ALTERNATE TIMELINES

• According to a clip from America's Most Wanted, Kate Austen did not in fact kill her stepfather in an explosion, but she killed his employee, a plumber's assistant, instead. Have we wandered into alternate-timeline territory? And could that timeline possibly start before the crash of Oceanic 815? Two other videos that hinted at an alternate timeline were Mr. Cluck's (starring CEO Hugo Reyes) and an Oceanic Airlines commercial that said they've never had a crash...

• Another nod to alternate timelines was a funny fake video clip of Michael Emerson auditioning to play Hurley in 2004 wearing a bandana and cargo shorts.
GOSSIP

Carlton Cuse said right out loud that J.J. Abrams has not actively worked on Lost since season one. J.J. Abrams has always been pretty open about that, but it's so rarely said out loud and most middle-of-the-road fans are always cranking, "Damn J.J. Abrams for screwing up Lost," and it's nice to see those people proven wrong, darn it.

Yeah, but I’m a little upset about the the season premiere being three hours long. Do you know if the first hour is a recap?

Yes, the first hour is a recap of sorts but it may hold a bunch of clues as ABC has been doling them out like candy in the promos. The first hour of the 2 hour premiere has been online since Sat when it was shown at an outdoor premiere in Hawaii...heheh.

My wife and I watched the first two seasons of “Lost.” We stopped because the story had become stupifyingly dumb. I imagine the end will be like the end of “The X Files:” an enormous let-down.

Here’s my prediction for LOST:

Global warming causes the ice caps to melt. Lost polar bears float on broken ice chunks which are drawn magnetically to the island due to trace iron trailings embedded in the ice from mining activities in Alaska. Famished, the bears land on the island and eat Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, Jin, Jack, etc. just before sinking into the depths of the rising ocean.

The final scene shows Locke cruising on his wheelchair turned jet boat toward the newly revealed Antarctic continent where Ron Hubbard has secretly been controlling the world with his e-meter.

Hi Bob J. I see that Lucky9teen got her thread locked because you posted this one first. I’m guessing you’re not aware that Lucky9teen has had the LOST ping list for a few years now and had already pinged her (extensive) list to her thread. Not that it’s a big deal, but it would seem fair to allow her semi-official thread to continue as the FR Lost thread...as it has been for a very long time. She does a great job on it and spends a lot of time scouring the internet for spoilers and other information to post to her thread. Thanks.

The Losties, as mankind’s representatives (as the have been throughout history) offer their lives up in sacrifice for their friends and fellow man breaking the ouroboros loop of time Jacob has put mankind in giving man time to “progress” on a spiritual level. The fifth age of mankind ends without it’s destruction (as it has four previous times) and man joins other beings in a state of enlightenment that could not be termed anything else but “heaven”.

The stupidest show in the history of television. What exactly is the point of this mind-numbing crap?
In short, it’s an extended nonlinear character study with a kind of sci-fi plot, very high production values, tight continuity, and an extremely active alternate reality game (which I’ve pretty much ignored; the show is still great). It’s so full of allusions and symbols that it’s been called semiotics pornography. The cast is brilliant, too. So’s the music.

It’s not for everyone, though. Fortunately, you’ve got options, like “Kitchen Nightmares” or “Biggest Loser: Couples.”

Unfortunately, you will have to watch the first 5 seasons in sequence to make any sense of the final season.

However, they do have an hour “recap” at 8pm, that may help, but I have doubts...and I’m not being glib. It’s just very complicated from the science to the mythology and philosophy to the “ships (relationships).

Give it a try and if you like it find someone who has the other seasons on DVD.

I never watched a single episode until after the 4th season when a friend recommended it and gave me season 1 and 2. Bought 3 and 4 and was up to speed for the 5th.

It would be hard to “jump in” at this point. It may not mean anything to you if you don’t “know” the characters. I would reccommend watching the dvd’s from the start os season one. It has a strong spiritual context, great characters and storyline.

I study this show like science, and I've figured it all out. Jacob and that other guy are the last Egyptian gods, battling out their goddish disagreements with all the characters as pawns and the island as the game board.

I watched the whole series again during the break. It was so different the second time around. The best thing about watching it all again is the knowledge that all the dead people who appear are not really the dead people you thought they were the first time around. They are all that guy battling Jacob!

Everything they say to the characters can now be viewed as advancing that guy's plan, whatever it is. Like when Mr. Eko's dead brother manipulates him (and then asks him "Who do you think you're talking to?") Or Christian fills Jack's head with stuff. Or Ben's daughter tells Ben to do whatever Locke says. Or dead Locke tells Richard what to tell alive Locke! They're all the same guy, and we don't even know anything about him or what he's really up to.

So, help me out here.... in the "alternate" universe where flight 815 landed normally, Benjamin Linus is a school teacher. Where exactly was Ben (trying to remember) at the time the bomb went off in 1977?

I believe he was with The Others where he was being healed of the bullet Sayeed put in him.

So how did Ben get off the Island before it was blown to hell?

The Japanese dude in charge at the temple, some spell his name "Dogen" others "Dogon".  I don't know, but found this rather interesting bit of trivia online here...

The Dogon, the Nommos and Sirius B

In Mali, West Africa, lives a tribe of people called the Dogon. The Dogon are believed to be of Egyptian decent and their astronomical lore goes back thousands of years to 3200 BC. According to their traditions, the star Sirius has a companion star which is invisible to the human eye. This companion star has a 50 year elliptical orbit around the visible Sirius and is extremely heavy. It also rotates on its axis.

This legend might be of little interest to anybody but the two French anthropologists, Marcel Griaule and Germain Dieterlen, who recorded it from four Dogon priests in the 1930's. Of little interest except that it is exactly true. How did a people who lacked any kind of astronomical devices know so much about an invisible star? The star, which scientists call Sirius B, wasn't even photographed until it was done by a large telescope in 1970.

The Dogon stories explain that also. According to their oral traditions, a race people from the Sirius system called the Nommos visited Earth thousands of years ago. The Nommos were ugly, amphibious beings that resembled mermen and mermaids. They also appear in Babylonian, Accadian, and Sumerian myths. The Egyptian Goddess Isis, who is sometimes depicted as a mermaid, is also linked with the star Sirius.

The Nommos, according to the Dogon legend, lived on a planet that orbits another star in the Sirius system. They landed on Earth in an "ark" that made a spinning decent to the ground with great noise and wind. It was the Nommos that gave the Dogon the knowledge about Sirius B.

The legend goes on to say the Nommos also furnished the Dogon's with some interesting information about our own solar system: That the planet Jupiter has four major moons, that Saturn has rings and that the planets orbit the sun. These were all facts discovered by Westerners only after Galileo invented the telescope.

The story of the Dogon and their legend was first brought to popular attention by Robert K.G. Temple in a book published in 1977 called The Sirius Mystery. Science writer Ian Ridpath and astronomer Carl Sagan made a reply to Temple's book, suggesting that this modern knowledge about Sirius must have come from Westerners who discussed astronomy with the Dogon priests. The priests then included this new information into the older traditions. This, in turn, mislead the anthropologists.

This is a possibility considering Sirius B's existence was suspected as early as 1844 and seen was through a telescope in 1862. It doesn't seem to explain a 400-year old Dogon artifact that apparently depicts the Sirius configuration nor the ceremonies held by the Dogon since the 13th century to celebrate the cycle of Sirius A and B. It also doesn't explain how the Dogons knew about the super-density of Sirius B, a fact only discovered a few years before the anthropologists recorded the Dogon stories.

It is also important to remember that although many parts of the Dogon legends seem to ring true, other portions are clearly mistaken. One of the Dogon's beliefs is that Sirius B occupied the place where our Sun is now. Physics clearly prohibits this. Also, if the Dogon believe that Sirius B orbits Sirius A every 50 years, why do they hold their celebrations every 60 years?

Sirius A is the brightest star in our sky and can easily be seen in the winter months in the northern hemisphere. Look for the constellation Orion. Orion's belt are the three bright stars in a row. Follow an imaginary line through the three stars to Sirius which is just above the horizon. It is bluish in color.

Sirius is only 8.6 light years from Earth. Astronomer W.Bessel was the first to suspect that Sirius had an invisible companion when he observed that the path of the star wobbled. In the 1920's it was determined that Sirius B, the companion of Sirius, was a "white dwarf" star. The pull of its gravity caused Sirius's wavy movement.

White dwarfs are small, dense stars that burn dimly. Sirius B is, in fact, smaller than the planet Earth. One teaspoon of Sirius B is so dense that it weighs 5 tons.

So did alien fish-men pay a visit to ancient Earth and give the Dogon their knowledge? Or was the Dogon's culture contaminated by western visitors? Or could the Dogon's have had ancient technical or non-technical means to find this information out? Or is the whole thing just a matter of coincidence?

The question maybe settled as larger and more powerful telescopes take a look at the Sirius system. According to the legend there is a third star: Sirius C, and it is around Sirius C that the home planet of the Nommos orbits. Most scientists do not consider any part of the Sirius system a prime candidate for life, though.

When Temple first issued his book in the 1970's there was no solid evidence of a Sirius C. In 1995, however, two French researchers, Daniel Benest and J.L. Duvent, authored an article in the prestigious journal Astronomy and Astrophysics with the title Is Sirius a Triple Star? and suggested (based on observations of motions in the Sirius system) there is a small third star there. They thought the star was probably of a type known as a "red dwarf" and only had about .05 the mass of Sirius B.

So has the home star of the Nommos been discovered? Or is this just another strange coincidence?

For whoever is interested, SciFi wire has an update on progress being made on the final episodes. Some spoilers, so I will not post entire article.

http://scifiwire.com/2010/03/lost-spoilers-jacobs-plan.php

Creators of ABC’s Lost told fans that they’re fighting over what goes in and what stays out of the series finale, which they’re now writing.

Co-creator and executive producer Damon Lindelof described writing the finale as completing a jigsaw puzzle, and there are only a few pieces left in the box. But the staff still has to be sure which ones they want to put together. “Now we just have to start putting things into place and say, ‘Are we sure that that’s what we wanted to do?’” Lindelof said over the weekend in interviews before a panel at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, Calif. “’No, let’s talk about that a little bit longer. Are we sure that’s what we wanted to do? Yes, absolutely. In fact, that’s what we have to do, because we set it up two years ago.’”

Last nights episode was truly sad, Sayid and the Kwon’s all die. It really hit us - Lost is ending. Very sad. I thought they could have given Sayid a better death scene. He’s been low key since he was “infected” and then he just runs off and blows up. That was disappoointing. The Kwons scene was very touching.
