Lol, yes - and sorry, this guy is NO David Cook!
His song is Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars". He's playing acoustic guitar. Starts off very quiet. Then gets louder, but it's like his voice is straining to keep up with it. Some sour notes.
Ellen: I thought that was a really good choice for you until you started screaming. Got a little too pushed. (she thinks he's safe)
Randy: I didn't like the song. Too rangey for you. You're more of a rocker and that's not a rock song.
Kara: You almost made the song unrecognizable in spots.
Simon: I have to disagree with Randy and Kara. I thought this was the best performance of the night. This guy is a naturally good singer. I still believe in you. I think you're going to do really well in this competition.

Thank goodness! She’s so wasting everyones time with her inane “you’re adorable” quips. Seems tonite, her main opinion is weather the song was “forced”....sigh....I truly miss hot mess, Paula!

In all honesty, Ellen looks like crap! It would be nice for her to at least TRY to look like a TV personality, and not like the first person in line at the Home Depot “20% off all you can carry” sale....

There may be something to what Ellen said to open the show — it could be that in the studio the echo and acoustics cover up the bad notes, but the microphone and recording equipment are like the unblinking eye.
Let’s face it, the added echo in karaoke helps singers sound better — we can assume the same happens from the natural building echos.
Because the critiques have been structural: Wrong song for your voice/style, didn’t make it yours, made it too much yours, bad arrangement, etc.. Only a few have been critiques of the actual singing — and those were the really, really bad ones.
That would be me ;)
