In the spirit of the current thread "Best Films of all Time?", I just have to ask for the other end of the spectrum.
I don't mean "Night of the Lupus", "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", or other standard bad/forgettable films. I don't mean just box-office flops. I want to see tour-de-force bad.
WORST MOVIE EVER!!!!!
“Tarzan the Ape Man” starring Bo Derek!
“My Dinner With Andre” - the most boring film of all time.
Highlander II is the only movie that i walked out of.
I think i lasted 40 mins.
30 mins too late if you ask me.
Ah, The good old UMASS days.....
Watch Brian DePalma’s “Phantom of the Paradise.” It’s the movie Rocky Horror wishes it was.
The Postman and Waterworld
“I watched this movie after hearing how wonderful it was, and found myself thinking, “this is one of the least satisfying movies I’ve ever sat through.”
It is the return of the late 60’s, early 70’s ending. Every movie has to have a miserable or confusing ending. It shows the attitude of Hollywood producers about the future and politics in general.
“Manos, The Hands Of Fate”
Eyes Wide Shut
“8)Jurassic Park 2-The Lost World -starring Jeff Goldblum”
Still not as bad as Dune, but it was so bad that my wife and I stopped going to the movies. Which is bad.
I started laughing uncontrollably when Goldblum and Co. broke into the gun cabinet and pulled out the high-powered ...wait for it...AR15s chambered in 5.56.
Like going after a croc with a .22 lr. You’re what’s for dinner.
“Lost in Space”
I actually received Lost in Space on DVD as a free DVD when I bought the DVD player. Even as a freebie, I honestly felt that somebody owed me money for the time I wasted watching that movie. That’s an hour and a half that I’ll never get back and could have used for something better, like hitting my head against the wall.
BTW, a close second was “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” I heard that Douglass Adams died shortly after the movie was released. I believe that he died of shame that the movie was associated with his genius.
Mark
I forgot “Howard the Duck”
I hated Dr. T and the Women. Hated it!!!!
So how can they have a Neverending Story II if the first one is never-ending?
Solve that mystery and then move on to perpetual motion.
Yep, Ford Prefect wasn't exactly what I was expecting. But it did have Zooey in it, so at least it wasn't all bad.
The De Laurentiis version of Dune overly compressed a lengthy and complex story, with bad acting even from good actors. The more fundamental problem was the shifting narrative voices. The novel frequently shifted from third person to first person and made it work. As Dune proved, that rarely works on film because it slows the action and confuses the audience.
That was it. It was horrable. I think I was 17 and we had a boot leg copy of it on VHS, watched it at a party.

TIE: The Piano and The Hours (both have drowning themes...appropriate)
Autumn in New York
Where The Wild Things Are
Leatherheads
Eraserhead
That was a stinker, the movie was a bit of toxic waste.
