Worst Films of All Time?

Posted on 01/06/2010 9:42:42 AM PST by ctdonath2

In the spirit of the current thread "Best Films of all Time?", I just have to ask for the other end of the spectrum.

I don't mean "Night of the Lupus", "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", or other standard bad/forgettable films. I don't mean just box-office flops. I want to see tour-de-force bad.

Rocky Horror Picture Show's sequel. It was so bad that I can't remember the name.

Although I saw RHPS nearly 100 times as a kid, it has to rank up there as one of the worst films ever. Watch it as an adult and sober.

The Thing With Two Heads - I believe this was a TV movie. Starred Roosevelt Grier and Ray Milland, not a great gig for either.

Oh, come on! Just for the sight of Rosie Greer riding a motorcycle with a rubber Ray Milland head on his shoulder this one is worth catching. "They transplanted a WHITE BIGOT'S HEAD onto a SOUL BROTHER'S BODY!" This is the reason the movies were invented.

"Kids". The edgy 90's POS about a mentally challenged 13 year old skate-rat Lothario with a ridiculous speech impediment.

Bill Ayers is a huge fan of it, from what I understand.

Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t make it the worst. You need something truly horrible, with horrible script, acting and production values.

All very well, but it does for me. And frankly, my opinion is the only one that counts for me. Sure, I can recognize the production values, and the artistic values, the good acting, whatever. But I'd rather watch "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" a dozen times than sit through "Seven" again.

And after all, it's just an opinion. The only thing that make it important to me is that it's mine. I hated "The Wild Bunch", too, for that matter. I guess it depends on what your aesthetic is, but mine hates both those movies, and wishes I had my money and my time back.

The Highlander II.

You are mistaken, my friend. There was no Highlander II. For some strange reason, it went from Highlander to Highlander 3 with no Highlander II being made.

I will repeat: Highlander II does not exist. Capice?

The absolutely worst film ever ... “Laser Blast”, made in the 60s. I took the kids to the drive-in movie to see it, and they did everything but barf. From then on, whenever we talked about a truly bad move, one of them would pipe up and ask, “Was it as bad as LaserBlast?” It bacame the floor against which all bad movies were compared.

MST3K used that movie as one of it's bad ones, so I have seen it. Bad, but most of the movies they use are.

Toys with Robin William

I sort of liked "Toys." While I hated the heavy-handed message in the story, I really liked the whimsical feel of the movie. Plus Robin Wright is a hottie.

I agree that in assigning something as “the worst” it can’t be just schloky bad like “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians”. It has to be a movie that was intended to be good with names associated with it that had done well before and/or did well afterwards. To me, the worst movie I ever saw was 1968’s SECRET CEREMONY starring Elizabeth Taylor and Mia Farrow. This was Farrow’s first release after the tremendous success she had with ROSEMARY’S BABY and there was much anticipation that this would be a worthy next step and the night I went to this movie the theatre was packed. It turned out to be the first movie I ever attended that people actually walked out of in droves. By the end of the movie (I stayed until the end thinking, mistakenly, that it HAD to get better) over half the audience had left. A close second has to go to Jeremy Irons’ DEAD RINGERS from 1988. This was another movie with an actor that I liked that had the audience walking out on.

“No Country for Old Men” - Worst. Movie. Ever.

I watched this movie after hearing how wonderful it was, and found myself thinking, "this is one of the least satisfying movies I've ever sat through." I really have no feelings for the movie, other that it was a waste of my time.

Coincidentally, my friend and I watched the MST3K version of “Laserblast” a few weeks ago. MST3K makes it watchable (barely) but without the MST treatment it’s a typical mega-low budget POC.
