I wonder if they were/are part of that reality show that tracks the greens trying to disrupt whaling? I saw one of those shows and decided that they deserve whatever happens to them.

Everything seemed to revolve around putting themselves or their ships in danger to force the whaling crew to change their actions and it ended up being a game of chicken.

Some of it was actually hilarious. They would turn into the path of the whaler and then proclaim "Look out, they're going to ram us!!!", but not without first making sure they had their camera crews filming the 'ramming' by the whaler.

While they have more exposure through the series, I'm not sure that the video documentation of their tactics helps them out on the PR front.
