Someone posted on the Uncommon Descent website :
It would be interesting to see what the evolution percentages would be if evolution were to be clearly defined in standard Darwinian terms:
1) Inanimate matter spontaneously self-generated and came to life as the first cell through chemical processes and chance (dont give me any BS about how Darwinian theory is not ultimately premised on this underlying assumption and assertion), and
2) Once the first cell came into being it progressed to become everything in biology (including human beings and human minds) through a process of random errors, with the good errors being preserved and the bad errors being thrown out by the mechanism of natural selection.
Percentage of Americans who believe in angels: 55 - NO
Percentage of Americans who believe in evolution: 39 - YES
Percentage of Americans who believe in anthropogenic global warming: 36 - NO
Percentage of Americans who believe in ghosts: 34 - NO
Percentage of Americans who believe in UFOs: 34 - DON’T KNOW
evolution definitely exist. You can see it clearly in virus or flies who have a much shorter lifespan. They evolve and survival of the fittest gene win
How many believe in a free lunch? That social security will take care of them?
The fact that only surviving individuals can reproduce does not show evolution, they are still the same species they were before the others died.
I am sorry but this is asinine. Scientific theories are just that, theories. One neither believes nor disbelieves “in” them (as if they were the Holy Trinity or the Resurrection), rather, they are subject to testing, review, verification, replication and refinement. It is through this process that theories come to be considered valid, or are discredited. Global warming is a theory that has been disproved. Evolution is the best theory developed, so far, to explain certain phenomena that can be observed. But it is not a fact, and it is certainly not an article of faith. Whether you believe in the quantum field theory or the theory of relativity, those theories are rational attempts to describe certain aspects of reality. They are not matters of faith. You would think the Foreign Policy editors would know better.
Would like to see how the UFO questions were worded.
Used to be 80% believed that UFO’s were real craft.
The percentage that believed the craft were piloted by other-worldly critters was significantly lower.
However, I suspect the percentage of Americans who believed in Tiger Woods would cast the veracity of the survey in an unproductive light.
Hmmmm. LOL.
SIGH.
LOL.
TERRRRRIBYL
PUNNNNNNNNNNNY tonight.
Thx.
Oh, Dear me . . .
A holiday attack of the puns.
I am shocked only 55% believe in angels. Truly. How sad.
I truly believe in angels and their assistance and presence in our daily lives.
ask me
And the 20 percent who say God has spoken to them?
Well that tells me 80 percent arent listening.
Calling Scully and Mulder... :-)
